Forums - General Discussion - Ever get that empty feeling when you finished something you really liked?

It's this weird hollow feeling that you get in your chest and it comes up nearly every time I think about that specific thing.

I felt it when I finished the Harry Potter books.

I felt it when I finished Oblivion and Yakuza 3.

I felt it when I finished Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Gantz (anime) and Full Metal Alchemist.

I thoroughly enjoyed all these things and I invested lots of time into all of them and every time I think about them I get that weird feeling and It's pretty annoying. Besides the games, they all leave so many questions unanswered, they leave me wanting a next instalment and they actually ruin other books, animes and games, because in my eyes they will always be superior.

Does anyone else get that hollow feeling?

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

I got it last gen when I finished SILENT HILL 4: The Room. I was sad and felt empty when it was over. Metal Gear Solid 4 gave me a similar feeling, but not as strong.

I also got it with the end of the Harry Potter books. I am guessing the film will be the same

For me it would have to be 20th Century boys. Its my absalute facerate manga of all time which for someone who reads as much manga as me is quite impressive. I had been reading over the period of 3 years (takes quite a while for the books to arive from japan. i Startd reading it before it as released in the UK) and once it was finished i genuanly felt upset XD

Yeah i know my spelling sucks but im dysgraphic so live with it :3

But now that we've gotten that out of the way, I'll say yes.  After star Wars Episode III, and after most good  RPG's, I get this feeling.  It's like you devote so much time to these things, and they give you such enjoyment.  You look forward to what's next........and then, it's over.

I had the same feeling with the Harry Potter books, the LOTR books and after finishing off DBZ. I intentionally didn't watch the last 20 episodes or so for years. Then I eventually decided to and regretted it. Luckily I had DBGT to still go through... -_-;;

Oh and Halo 3... for different reasons..

I do get this feeling sometimes, however unlike you it's not because said things didn't satisfy, but simply a feeling loss when I finish something I enjoyed greatly.

The last time I got this feeling was when I finished reading the book Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. The moment I read the last sentence I had the urge to start reading the book again. The story was so nice, and the charatcers so interesting, and Eugenides's writing style was so witty and enjoyable, that I was simply upset that the 600 page story was over (despite finding the ending to be simply wonderful).

You will surely regret saying that!
