Forums - Sony - Sony: "PS3 Move Greatly Exceeded Expectation"

The focus in the media in recent weeks may be on Microsoft's Kinect camera, but in the meantime, Sony's PlayStation Move controller continues to do well, according to Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). Although there hasn't been an update on actual sales data since it was revealed that 1 million were sold in North America and Latin America and 1.5 million were sold across Europe, Sony maintains that consumer response continues to be good.

Speaking to IndustryGamers as part of a wide-ranging interview on the Latin America region, Mark Stanley, GM of Latin America for SCEA, told us that PlayStation Move has been a "tremendous success."

"We’re actually continuing to catch up on filling the pipeline with product, as we are in the U.S. and worldwide because demand has greatly exceeded our expectations," he commented. "So far, we still don’t have enough to supply the [Latin America] region and we’re hoping to catch up, so triple-A success for us in the region. It’s been able to translate easily into the region. Something as simple as Move is easily communicated, easily captivated by the region. The difference is we’ve been able very much to define the difference between Move and Wii and Kinect, which has helped us quite a bit."

This is obviously false because a bunch of people on this forum have been swift to tell me that it flopped.

Stupid Sony.

Let the battle of slightly ambiguous statements continue!

Obviously this news is tempered by the fact that Ubisoft came out just before and said that Move cannot sell core games when they revealed their sales for R.U.S.E. didn't perform up to expectations and that was attributed to Move buyers not being interested in core titles.

Tease.

Can't find the thread, but did they mention what the sale were? RUSE is an RTS right? Do those usually sell well on consoles to begin with?

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

Or maybe R.U.S.E. is simply uninteresting.

Not to mention they just kind of threw the game out to die without any real advertisements or at least none that I have seen.

Not to mention, as a counter argument, didn't Capcom say RE5 Gold Edition is selling better than expected ever since Move launch?
