There are so many references to the other games, it's fantastic.
They even managed to include the SMW Goombas! (they're much more rounded and smaller)
Top 3 favorite games: Super Mario Galaxy, The Sims 2 (PC), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
yep, especially the older music.

I think so far the best fan-service moment for me in SMG is the remix of the very first level-music you hear in Super Mario Bros. 3
