Forums - Sales - Initial European Kinect sales from different stores

So Kinect launched across Europe today ( 10 nov. ). With very little advertising thus far, at least I haven't seen any commercials or anything aside from a few articles in different news papers. So it will be interesting to share some data from people who work in places where they sell Kinect to compare sales figures. Since there is no initial sales information from Europe from ioi, this could give us an idea from what to expect. So our store (Saturn, The Netherlands) had all the Kinect stuff in store around noonish, and I compiled a list of what has been sold and what we had in store before we put it in stores.

For me personally, I have tried Kinect, and it works and it is kinda awesome, but not really worth the € 150,-  YET. So for me, I did not expect huge succes for Kinect in any way in these first days. I expected to sell like a few Kinect bundels, but no hardware really. But as it turns out, I was surprised. First, here is a list of what we got from Microsoft before Kinect launched:

50 x Kinect Sensor Bundles with Kinect Adventures = € 135,-
100 x 250 GB Kinect Xbox 360 S Bundle = € 344 ,-
80 x 4 GB Kinect Xbox 360 S Bundle = € 289 ,-

So here is the list of what we sold today:

31 x Kinect Sensor Bundles
5 x 250 GB Kinect Xbox 360 S Bundles
1 x 4 GB Kinect Xbox 360 S Bundles.

So I was pleasantly surprised. I did not expect to sell that many Kinect bundles already in like half a day really. Maybe its because we have it priced slightly cheaper then others store but still, did not expect over 30 units already. The same goes for the hardware bundles. So from this data, the seperate Kinect bundle is now selling about 6 to 1 compared to Hardware bundles, so if this were the case from the early American sales; about 80.000 of the total 475.000 sold could be hardware bundles. As for the games, this is what we sold today:

7x Kinect Sports
7x Kinectimals
5x Fighters Uncaged (WTF?!)
4x Dance Central
4x Joy Ride
2x Your Shape
1x Sonic Freeriders

This adds up to a total of 30 Kinect games. So thus far you can basically say, every Kinect buyer buys a separate game extra. Did not expect that as well. So as it said in the initial American Kinect sales article, the real seller could be Kinect Sports. Surprising is the Kinectimals entry, which I heard from a few buyers is really destined for the girlfriends and moms of the people who buy Kinect. Also surprising is Fighters Uncaged, which is the lowest rated Kinect launch game, sold this many times. Guess it is because its the only real 'hardcore' game at launch.

So that about wraps it up. Thoughts?
Also, if you work in a game store in Europe, please share your sales data for comparison!

You aint found shit!

I'm interested but don't work in a store!  I'm expecting okay but not amazing sales for Kinect in Europe so that's why I'm interested.  I believe it requires too much space for the average European home - but of course I could be wrong on that so I'm interested to see if it sells lots or more in line with my expectations that size will but a bit of a 'cap' on it.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Hello

I've got a very small shop in Belgium.

All i can say is that Microsoft undershipped a lot in Belgium, i have ordered 10 Kinect Sensor Bundles and only received 2 ! (with 5 preorders, that was a bummer)

At first, i thought it was maybe the same problem that with the move, always out of stock at wholesalers but lots of it available in big shops like "Carrefour".

But in the closest "Carrefour", they only have received 8 !  And they had half a page pub for Kinect in their last flyer, also they had a Kinect demonstration a week ago.  So it seems whole Belgium is undershipped.  Our wholesaler told us that they have received 1/6 of what they did order...

So, in conclusion, in Belgium, demand seems high but the shipment is very low.  :(

Bye.

Zones : I still don't understand all the love for Blizzard, what was the last game they developed worth playing?

Now for my own family experience with Kinect,  after only half a day of playing, it's a blast !

My 8 years old daughter is crazy about Kinectimals and Kinect Adventures.  She's the one who did play most of the day.

My 15 years old son has played less than a hour, i think but he liked it a lot also.  He was very tired and said it was quite physical.

My own impression is that it works very well with little or no lag.  It was sometimes very impressive.

I think kinectimals is awesome for kids but for myself, it's Dance central who is the real seller !  That game is terrific and i hope other developpers will use the same interface Dynamic worked because it's very fast, easy and effective.  I have tried also Kinect Adventures and Joyride but i'm clearly too old for these games and didn't enjoy it.  I thought i would like a lot 'Your Shape" but for the moment i dont.  We havent picked 'Kinect Sports" for the moment so we havent tried it.

In the end, i would give 8 to 9 to Dance Central, 7 to 8 to Kinectimals, 6 to Kinect Adventures and Your Shape and 5 to JoyRide.

Update for day 2.

We sold through all our initial Kinect Bundle shipment, so we sold 50 Kinect Bundles in 2 days, quite impressive.

Also looked up the PlayStation Move sales; thusfar we have sold almost 90 PlayStation Move Starter Packs in about 1,5/2 months. So it seems Kinect is performing better at the moment. Of course this is really to early to tell, it all depends on if the customer demand sustains this high. Also interested to see how fast Microsoft can resupply us with Kinect Bundles, but it seems this could take a while.

We also sold 2x 4GB Kinect Bundle and 2x 250GB Kinect Bundle.

Any updates from other shop owners?

Give me a shop and I'll give you the updates :)

Above: still the best game of the year.

My friend works at a GAME store in the UK and said they went through about 8 Kinect bundles on the midnight launch and 50 bundles the first full day of release. They still have stock remaining. Don't have any info on console bundles.

At another GAME store in a different area I was browsing for a good half hour on Kinect's second day and in that short space of time I saw them sell three or four bundles in some sort of morning rush.

I think Kinect is really going to be huge in the UK.
