So 360 runs 720p/2 per eye and then scaled back to 720p.
PS3 runs at ???? resolution which is stuck in to a 1280x1470 frame and then cut in half for each eye. (the standard HDMI 1.4 3D gaming resolution)
Apparently 360 version runs smoother but thats not surprising considering that the game in 2D runs smoother as well...

Indeed. The PS3 version can't keep up with the framerates in 2D and the same holds true for 3D.

Im pretty sure this will be the case for any game which has 3d and wasn't built from the ground up with 3D in mind. When devs add 3D at the last minute they pretty much just unload all this extra work on to the video card...I doubt they have the time or budget to optimize the Cell to help out with 3D processing.
A game like Killzone 3 should yield much better results for the PS3.

really sad, that the thing looks last gen next to the alpha multiplayer code for KZ3 which runs at native 720p resolution

Sure it will be in a 1440p (720x2) image buffer but there will be some scalling going on...unless they have the game somehow running in 1080p in 2D.

I heard they drop the resolution to 640P or 608P for KZ3 for the 3D, and the framerate drops from a near consistent 30fps to around 20-25fps according to the alpha code digital foundry tested out
also I meant the actual game looks horrific next to KZ3, I mean horrific

no ones going to give a crap about this apart from fanboys, your best get the version on the console you play most. boths games are the same. in fact can anyone tell me why i should pick up the 360 game instead of the ps3 game?

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...
My cousin bought the PC version of Black Ops and it doesn't run smooth. The gameplay is laggy and it pissed both of us. MW2 run flawlessly on his PC.
I've also searched and found that a lof of PC users have this issue and that Treyarch knows the problem and will resolve it...
How can they release a game with such a big problem? I liked the game, and its new modes especially the Zombie mode but this is unacceptable. They totally ignored the PC port.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem on PC? I was going to buy it but now im really pissed off.
