Forums - Sales - Initial Kinect Sales!!!!

Good sales.
Got my Kinect today and been playing it with the little one and all in all very enjoyable first outing. Mostly played the Kinect adventures which was a blast. I will be waiting a bit now before buying any more games due to Christmas and the presents but loving it so far. Video Kinect is cool already spoken to the daughter in Uni worked a treat better than skype and on the big TV to boot.

I live in a terraced house so space was always a premium but turns out we have 8 foot of clear space. Having said that my terraced house is not one of the smallest so I could see others struggling but better placement of the sensor i.e. higher up should reward you with a smaller space requirement.

Winner of the 2010 VGC Holiday sales prediction thread with an Average 1.6% accuracy rating. I am indeed awesome.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

It did terrible so far. Course I am using their own expectations of 5 million before January 1st, which seems unreachable. I will know for sure if their goals are a failure when initial hardware sales come in with the 360 console. If it doesn't bump up the 360 sales by a large margin, than failure is innevitable. I am a realist, people try to make Kinect seem better no matter what. At least Sony didn't dig their own grave with their predictions..

Don't get me wrong, shy of 500K is good number, but no where near that of what Minect needed to get to 5 million by the time frame THEY said they will reach. Unless they release great games we don't know about yet, they will fall flat. America is their strong point and sales in Europe will be about 60-70% of what North America does. So lets say they have 700,000 units sold right now. Can say with confidence that by the end of November they will have about 1.5 million units sold. I can see them reaching 3 million with a Holiday boost, but 5 million seems insane. One thing that is proven is that actual interest in Kinect is lower than thought by gaming analysts.

I hate to be the "hater" but the number just don't add up with the trends, even with Black Friday and Christmas coming up. When 360 sales numbers come in, I believe it will show that 80-90% of the people who bought Kinect at launch have a 360 already. So I am predicting the first push will bump 360 sales by 80-140K worldwide. But I wouldn't be shocked if it was around 40-60K either.

almost all of these have sold to existing xbox 360 owners who have bought day one as to show support for thier gaming company of choice.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Initial Kinect sales look quite strong. Remember we also have the bundles to add to that tally as well so probably at least another 100k on top of already strong standalone sales. Furthermore the sales balance of the games look about where I expected them to be, Dance Central then Kinectimals then Your Shape. Microsoft has a good strong launch happening here and obviously Rares talents haven't gone to waste in making Kinect Sports as that is the highest selling title for the system.

I admit i too am skecptical of whos buying, however we wont know till about friday when we'll see if theres a hardware boost or not. the sales are decent so far imo, so its possible its been a bit of both. however this device is meant to generate momentum, and its supposed to keep selling itself and 360s week on week, so thats what i mean when i said i was skecptical.

and lets not forget this is an amazing feat simply for the fact that this device is $150, which is about triple the price of a new game.

And where is your proof of this?

300K would have been okay...riding the high end to almost 500K is freaking incredible.  Now what the deniers begin their same old tired song.  Blah Blah blah…M$ spent $500 million to promote this, and they have them everywhere…blah blah blah…BS and nonsense, of course.  I don’t watch a ton of TV, but I’ve seen NO kinect ads during sport events on the tube…zippo.  This is freaking awesome, and it was on sales on 3 days…for a $149 device, which A LOT of people said would never sell.  To boot, look at those software sales…the companies who worked on kinect are going to bank some cash, since their games are going to probably be the staple of titles over the holiday season.  Looks like Greenberg wasn’t just yapping hot gas…

I was about to say, fair point, you're allowed your opinion, and it's not easy to predict the next few weeks sales but then I saw this in another thread "As much as I would love that thought as a HUGE PlayStation fan"

It's painfully obvious this is all wishful thinking on your part, and you can hate all you like, I honestly don't think 360 fans here care anymore .. all I'll say is if these estimates are correct (500k 3 days in NA) then that IS very impressive (Terrible? really?) and it'll hit 2 - 2.5 million by the end of November thanks to Black Friday.

I think you're reading in to that statement to much. I am a "huge" PlayStation fan because of their exclusive sector. I wouldn't own any consoles if it wasn't for Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, or Gran Turismo series. These franchises from my childhood have my hopes high, and all I get is let down (from FF anyways, MGS4 was terrific). As far as my 360, yes I own a 360. There is nothing that I am attached to on the 360, not one single game. Bunch of new franchises that I couldn't care less about, and multiplatforms. Games now adays just don't have "it" anymore.

And I am not some blind fanboy, my predictions are off reports, not my "hopes". If it was on my hopes, Move, Kinect, Wii, and the 360 would never exist. Motion gaming in my opinion is stupid, I've said this from the start and my mind isn't changed at all to this point. So I am not going to predict short coming for Kinect because of Sony, as I hate the Move. Both should die a slow and painful death.

Spare me, I don't care why you're a PS fan and I never buy those explanations. It's fine, you're entitled to your opinion as much as anyone else here, just so you know it sounds geared towards your own wishful outcome and you will be proven wrong in the very near future.
