I suppose that now we will see wii version beating at least the ps3 version.

You mean reviews or sales? Actually don't bother, not gonna happen either way.

Sales. I've seen a lot of reasons why a wii game does not sell as well as the hd-versions. Now those usual reasons don't apply (gimped,old/lame port,no marketing, not a big ip and whatever), so the game will sell more than those hd-versions.

I think the Wii version will be outsold roughly 3.5-4:1 by the PS3 version and more by the 360 version and this time there are no excuses.

Not really. If the marketing was the same and it had local multiplayer, there would be no excuses, but there are still strong differentiating factors this time.

Exactly. Given that Activision is bound by contract to make users aware of only the existence of the 360 version before launch, how could this even sell well yet? I doubt very many people who even follow gaming know that the Wii version will be fully-featured (sans local multiplayer). How would you even know that? Activision certainly hasn't been making an effort to make that known at all, various journalists had to pry it out of Treyarch

The game is gimped. Check the red mark in the review.

Local multiplayer? Do people really care about that if you can play the game online? :o

Yes, yes they do.

[3]The top selling console FPS' of all time

1) So local multiplayer is the reason those titles sold? Like wii fit? Nintendogs?  NSMB? Brain age? Mario kart ds?

2) Previously mentioned games and pokemon?

3) Do you really think that MW2 sold that much because of local multiplayer? Get real.

No, it's a correlation. Local multiplayer is extremely common among the top selling games of all time, and of this generation. It's especially true of the Wii which is specifically intended to be a multiplayer console. 8/10 of the top ten games this generation have local multiplayer 3/10 had online. 7/10 of the top selling Wii games were local multiplayer games, the other three still have local multiplayer elements. 8/10 of the top selling 360 games and 4/10 on PS3.

Of the top console games of all time 17/30 have had local multiplayer. 4/30 had online multiplayer.

And I'm not sure if you intended it but yes, NSMB(on DS and Wii), Mario Kart DS and Pokémon are really big local multiplayer games.

I did not say that MW2 sold that much due to local multiplayer, however I am sure it is an element. Hardcore gamers underestimate the relevance of local multiplayer, every big selling console FPS has had it as a central feature since Goldeneye popularized console FPS'.

But this isn't even just a matter of not having local multiplayer, the HD versions also have local online. You know, the feature that's really popular on the 23 million selling Mario Kart Wii and the near 10 million selling SSBB.

In a straight up choice between Black Ops on the HD consoles or on Wii you've got the following factors:

HD: Local Multiplayer, Local Online Multiplayer, better graphics and chances are more of your friends will have this version (particularly the 360).

Wii: Pointer controls.

..yeah.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I'm confused..

I thought Black Ops didn't have Online mulitplayer..

Pixel Art can be fun.

It has online. It doesn't have local.

MW2 sold 25-30% more on the 360 than the PS3 on a considerably bigger installed base and with many times the advertising budget and with control over the region where FPS games are typically the most popular. If the PS3 version of Black Ops sells a whole lot more than the Wii version, there really will be no excuses.

PS: How much online gaming are Wii owners doing compared to HD consoles owners anyway? I'm guessing not a whole lot. Why can't people just accept that there is a pretty high probability that shooters and similar games don't sell as well on the Wii simply based on the nature of its owners (you think a Mario Kart like game would sell 25 million on the conbined HD installed base?). Different consoles cater to different people and while the average PS3 and 360 are probably a lot more similar than they think, the average Wii owners is likely to differ a lot more simply based on the nature of the console and game library (please don't argue with the fact that the Wii and HD consoles are vastly different). Is it that hard to fathom or do you just not want to?

Wait. You admit there are multiple factors to consider with 360 vs PS3, but then ignore the same with Wii vs PS3?

The PS3 has a hell of a lot more FPS, of all qualities, than the Wii. CoD games make up, I don't know, 1% of the total FPs on the PS3? 2% How much do CoD games make up the total FPS amount on the Wii 10%, 15%? There aren't that many games to attract more FPs customers right now.

Looks good, but I will be opting for the 360 version, since the online system will proably be more fleshed out and I plan on playing online matches with my cousin into the wee hours of the night.

Good to see Wii getting some ports that aren't dumbed down/skimped out on though.

Except this isn't a port. A port is made after the fact. This is a multiplatform release.

How on earth do you play local multiplayer on ds? Or are you talking about playing on 2 or more consoles? That is the same as online (you propably connect with wifi).

I am pretty sure that local multiplayer on MW2 was a non factor. Online is what sells the shooters.

Fellows. Let's all be gentlemen and ladies here.

Let's not forget that we doubted Playstation Move and said it would fail but instead it sold quite well.

Let us not doubt the Wii version of Black Ops because you never know. It MIGHT outsell the PS3. I'm not saying it will or that it won't. All I am saying that it could or could not.
