Lies are not a problem because townies shouldn't trust anyone other than themselves anyway. The real victims of a pro-town lie are the mafia, because mafia will generally take townies at their word depending on how the lie is presented.

Think about it. If I lie and claim something I'm not, it's misleads the mafia because they have to think about that player. "Are they lying", "Totally bluffing", "Let's avoid that player".

Now, a normal town doesn't have to think about stuff like that because town should never take anything at face value. Well there you have it. Lying is important and has its own purposes and usefulness.

Forgot something.

What?  All pro-town players are thinking about that stuff all the time.  They are constantly asking themselves if other players are lying.  No need to make things more complicated and having what are supposed to be the trustworthy people running around and lying.

Let me put it this way:

If I was scum (and I am not), then I would love to have the town running around lying to each other.

Town should never trust anyone based off of one thing. A townie pretending to be something it is not does not affect the town in any bad way.

Your point rests on your reasoning that a dead townie's words are more reliable when telling the truth. This is simply not realistic. There is no merit in a dead townie's words unless they are a highly informative role.

(response to the first paragraph)

Except for a cop wasting an investigation, a doctor wasting a protection, a tracker/watcher wasting a night, a day wasted on a mislynch...all more likely with untruthful townies.

(response to the second paragraph)

No one is suggesting that the suspicions of a dead player are any more accurate because they came up innocent.  When a player comes up innocent, we then know we can take what they said at face value.  We don't have to worry about them intentionally throwing suspicion on the innocent, or having other ulterior motives.  As long as they told the truth.  My biggest worry, however, is that a dead townie's unexposed lie will end up providing cover for scum.  Or accidentally throw suspicion on an innocent player.

Just here to confirm guys!

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

People have been asking if they are pro-town or not.  I had kind of wanted people to figure this out on their own; I thought a reasonable person could analyze their role PM and Day Start post and come to the right conclusion on their own.  However, if they can't, it's wrong for me to sit here withholding that information.

Good is bad, up is down, black is white.  The bad guys are the town.  Clear enough?

That makes things alot easier >.<

After this post I'll probably be absent for 7 hours since I have school, so hopefully the game doesn't progress too much.

3) Or people could have followed Heph's theory and lynched the fake android because they thought he was scum. Net result: one less townie.

That wasn't a lie though.... it was a theory based on the game flavor.

that or i'm clairvoyant and I knew Vett'd be reborn as a mafia before the end of the game :p

well if you recall I actually tried to lie and say the DB hunt was my ability, but you guys absolutely HAD to know every details of my ability.... If we had stayed at it's my ability, no fun would have been gone (and i'd have been killed night 3... cause I blocked night 2 :p).

Same as in the round before... I tried to lie to get targeted to both have a shot at killing a mafia (didn't know my spell was 50% effective though...) and to make it seem I was just plain unkillable. There however it was mafia tearing up my roleclaim...the town silently watching :'(

As you can see, i'm all for town lying as a townie, as long as you have a usefull purpose behind it. However, it's obvious from my attempts that with the way people play here, it is rather counter productive. First time I got myself killed, second time I confused everyone further.

Don't worry though, I won't be making crazy theories, and if I do find what I believe to be a loophole again, it'll stay between the mod and myself, lesson learned.

I like crazy theories, they make the game more fun. Just make sure they are not confusing and hard to explain.

Vote: no lynch

Nothing really going on here and i think we had enough useless discussions for day 1.
