i like trophies better, the level system gives me a better sense of accomplishment.  right now i'm working on getting to level 13 and once i get there i have something to celebrate.  i also love how trophies are segregated into platinum, gold, silver, bronze.  it gives me an easy way to compare my trophies to a friend, see who really completes their games from those that just play a lot of games shallowly.

really, either system is fine, i prefer the greater flexibility in comparing trophies provide.

This^

is what I was thinking pretty much

LOTS of broze=good

Lots of silver=good

Not many golds=Doesn't really get into the game

Platinums=100%

Achievements mean a lot more than trophies because all 360 games have them. trophies are neat but I can't really get into them like I can achievements. I buy my multiplatform games on 360 because In many cases like red dead redemption and call of duty, they have better graphics/ exclusive downloadable content on the 360. Therefore i pile up more achievements. Trophies will win pull because there are more sony users on vgchartz than 360 owners.

that is all

I like achevements but trophies are okay as well. I wonder whats the ratio between them. Like is every 1000 acheivements a level in PSN? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Just putting it out there but, there is a section on the 360 dashboard for games you've gotten 100% of the !chievements for.  It's not a platinum trophy but it still gets the job done......I guess.  I have zero platinums on the PSN.  I think about my lack of platinum when I make love to my woman.  It makes me lose my mojo.  :(

Achievements. They've been standard since the 360's inception. Trophies were added after the fact so, I don't care about them.

They are pretty much the same, though i prefer trophies slightly as its easy to look at another persons trophies and see how difficult the achievement they are getting are meant to be (though alot of developers have too many bronze trophys imo). It is also nice how the level system works and how it becomes more difficult to level each level you gain.

A bit off-topic though i wonder how trophies and achievements will transition to new consoles? It would be annoying to start over again, yet imagine a new gamer looking at his 100 GS vs 1,000,000,000 GS person in a few console cycles...

I would say achievements. It gives you a better idea of how much points you have instead of leveling with trophies. Both are good though.

Trophies, but because I don't have a 360. If I had a 360 and played both consoles reguarly, I would choose achievements because they're in every 360 game.

I like getting gold trophies and you can't match the platinum trophy for achievements.  Achievements are 't show up fun but they don't show quite as simply as bronze, silver, gold and platinum about how tough the gaming action done actually is.

Trophies.  I just prefer the extra level of detail with the points, level system and Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze cups.

I'd still prefer to turn off in game notifications, though.  I tend to play more SP than MP and I find the notifications quite jarring from an immersion point of view.

Until you can do that Ebert is right, games can't be art because art doesn't ping you in the middle of the film to let you know you've finished the first scene.

You can turn off notifications for the 360 so I'm pretty sure you should be able to turn off notifications for the PS3 too?

I'm not sure you can, actually.  I'll have to look through the system options again.  I seem to remember Quantic Dream had to get special permission to have code in Heavy Rain that surpressed them appearing until the end of a chapter to prevent them breaking imerssion during the game.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
