Forums - Sales - Gran Turismo 5 shipped 555K copies only in France

Sorry if this has already been posted but the GT5 launch part is on the 24/25th this month. If we look at history, we find that the earlier launch party was a week before the release. This means that the game is going to release in the week of 29-5. I am confident it is either 30th Nov or 3rd Dec.

With the Top Gear track included U.K. numbers are sure to be even bigger!

I guess if they're shipping copies we have to be getting a release date for it soon? I don't think they'll ever just say "its available tommorow everybody!". That isn't enough time to get the word out. You have to figure a lead time of at least one-two weeks from release date announced to release date...which means if this is coming out in November we should be getting the data sometime this week.

Missing Black Friday in the USA would be a huge deal though, if it did slip to December. Thats our biggest shopping week of the year. All hardware sales in the USA could be triple or so the Oct 30 week for Black Friday week...so Sony is going to want this thing out in Nov.

Would it not be in danger of being missed in the frenzy and cheap electrical goods  seem to be the big sellers on Black friday,  so  until some one can show figures that it really pays to put new software out that day  it might be better not to launch so your product launch isn't drowned out .instead just let it sell through to the new year. On the subject of black friday according to what i can find out it isn't the biggest shopping day in the US it varies but it averages about the 5th ,the saturday before christmas tends to be NO 1 .

UK - €3.11B
France - €2.44B
Germany - €2.36B
Spain - €1.20B
Italy - €1.13B

So France was just ahead of Germany in 2009. Positions could change in 2010.
