IGN Orange Box Review: 8.4

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/840/840505p1.html

"So is the PS3 Orange Box still good? Of course -- considering the content alone -- but these issues, especially in Episode Two, drastically hurt the gameplay. If you can tolerate these problems and work around them, we still recommend picking up a copy -- the overall experience is enjoyable. It's just sad to see such a wonderful game hurt so badly by the porting process."

Shame.

Just get he best version possible for the PC.

I will say, though, that I heard all about the F.E.A.R. port being bad because of framerate issues and such but found it to be an enjoyable game and didn't notice many problems.  This game scores higher than that one, so I'm sure the experience isn't ruined and would still be worth playing.  This is still the best deal in videogame history.

EA strikes again!

This is very annoying. I guess I'll have to settle for the PC version.

I agree, get the PC version instead if you really want it badly, IMO releasing a console game you should tap into the available resources and advantages. The console specs will not change over time, IMO it's unforgivable for current and future PS3 users to have to deal with framerate issues for a game like this and instead can get much better results with more complex games like Unreal Tournament 3 or Warhawk.

Now if this was a launch game I could forgive EA / Valve as it does take time and effort to rewrite legacy game engines.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Well it's only 1 review, BUT it looks like Mr. Rein gets my money this Christmas :P There is absolutely NO REASON why a game of THIS CALIBER should be "with flaws" while the other versions go un-scathed, unforgivable :D

IGN always see frame rate issues with the PS3 games that other publications doesnt even mention .With AC it was so ashaming that they actually had to delete the comments due to all the people in the forums showing them actual videos of the game.

I am not saying it is free from any frame rate issue ,but IGN just tend to magnify this all the time .I suppose it is being due to X360 editors of the mag doing the PS3 reviews of the multiplattform games .Wich is in itself a shame for the mag .

I am pretty sure that although the game may have one or two of these problems mentioned by the review they are so minor that 95% of the users wont even notice it .

I am not shocked one bit. EA still has probs porting games to the PS3. If it's EA, it sucks.

Meh I don't care, for the second biggest gaming conglomerate to not have the PS3's hardware down like the back of there c*cks, it's really sad. Burnout is being created on the PS3, I have a feeling it will be free of bugs, if it does, I WILL be buying it. I have a strange feeling that Burnout Paradise is going to sell more than this on the PS3 -_-; and frankly, thats just sad.

I can't say that I didn't see this coming. It seems to be the norm for the most part. It seems to similar to how F.E.A.R turned out. I own F.E.A.R. for 360 and my brother rented it for PS3 via Gamefly and the difference was significant. The 360 had shorter load times, better framerates, and much better textures. The worst part was that the port from the PC version was done by the same development team and the PS3 version got an addition 6 months of development time. Like F.E.A.R. the majority of the Orange Box titles have been out for a significant period of time on the PC. There really isn't a reason for them to run poorly on the PS3. Since Valve didn't handle the port directly for the PS3 version of the Orange Box, that has to be at least part of the issue with the ports quality.

I'd also like to add that ITS HALFLIFE 2!!! That game is so old!!! Why in god's name can't they get it to run flawlessly on the PS3 ><; Why is EA the only company having these problems LOL
