Forums - Microsoft - Remedy: 'Future of Alan Wake is going forward'

Alan Wake could very well be the next Uncharted in the way the franchise will evolve. The way I see it both offer great stories and story telling but the debut of both series of games showed a great core that only needed to be improved and expanded upon to become some of gaming's greatest highs. Uncharted 2 did just that by Naughty Dog identifying what they had going so well for them; the characters, platforming, story through gameplay and gun based gameplay mechanics; as well as fixing and building what wasn't; hand to hand combat, online multiplayer, a few tech dips.

If Remedy do the same they could really create a new premier series for the 360. No I'm not suggesting they tack on multiplayer. The length of Alan Wake was more than satisfactory if you took the time to enjoy the atmosphere and endulge yourself in all that the game had to offer. I'm talking about things like tech issues (lip synching, higher res), adding new interesting characters to the mix, maybe mixing in unique combat elements (ala shining the flashlights on words to create objects in the world)... It's got the potential for sure and I wouldn't hesitate buying into the future of Alan Wake.

I didn't read anything other than the headline, I just wanna chime in.

I really, really want to see where Alan Wake can go next (I just completed episode 2 in the game), and allow Remedy to remedy (best pun I ever made) their mistakes from the first game. They have an amazing narrative going, and the atmosphere in the game is brilliant, but please focus more on the animations next time, less straight forward shooting and possibly a bump to the resolution just a bit.

I really, really want Alan Wake 2!

Well if they make a longer game I would actually buy the next one and not just rent it. I think they would have had a few more sales if it was longer, after watching reviews and hearing how short it is I went the cheap route.

So remedy needs to not be cheap to the gamer. MAKE a LONGER GAME.

Alan wake was really fun, so I hope they can make a sequal.

Really hope for a sequel. Alan Wake has possibly been my favourite game of 2010 so far.

The fact that Alan Wake is being bundled and It's in a download card form - not disc - should say quite a bit about Alan Wake 2. Obviously MS has a good understanding that people are willing to pay for the DLC for Alan Wake, and obviously there are not a lot of "spare discs" to go around if its in the form of a download card. Course being a download card probably also pushs people towards XBL.

It's just that simple.

I really enjoyed Alan Wake and hope it gains more sales and the recognition it deserves. But it could definately do with some improvements. I would say on the gamplay front-

Ditch the light v darkness theme on the story front. That's far too unoriginal and cheesy.

Need to be able to run for longer.

The duck and avoid attack button needs to change.

Introduce hand to hand combat inc melee weapons.

More driving.

Add a more exploration element. Maybe some decent climbing and accurate platforming.

Now on the technical front-

Up the res to 720p if possible. I like the graphics but 540p is low.

Reduce or preferebly eliminate the screen tear. I know it's to keep the framerate @ 30fps but the screen tear is embarrassing since it's only 540p and no one likes it.

Improve the collision detection. I died a few times due to some minor but annoying glitches.

Alan Wake 2 could become really really good if the flaws are ironed out.

The game is $29.99 at GameStop right now. For those who haven't grabbed it, now would be a good time!

Looks like I know what my next game is gonna be
