Not even close? Give me some numbers. A few places with some remaining stock doesn't prove, "it wasn't even close to selling out."

How about every single unit they gave away, or the fact that stores with very few preorders got like 30 kinects, sorry that I don't have solid numbers but the fact is kinect wasn't even close to selling out on preorders and it was all just bull to make people think they wouldn't beable to get it unless they preordered it, sorry that country wide numbers aren't available but theres tons of proof

How many did they give away? Lets say they gave away 10K or even 20K. That's nothing compared to how many they sold. It was also part of the marketing.

As I said before, perhaps a lot of stores sold out just on pre orders. I remember they were telling stores to stop taking pre orders. But that may have been because some stores were getting more pre orders than units.

Basically, you have no proof of how close they were to selling out all around NA. But we do know many major retailers are sold out. So just give it a rest.

There are tons of proof your just closing your ears and yelling lalala, sold out means supply exceeds demand and that didn't happen, 20k may not be alot but when you don't have enough consoles to sell it's huge

So they sold 250K? Or did you come up with that from pre orders?

Sigh you don't understand, for like a week MS ways saying it was sold out (before release) as in the preorders, that was a blatant lie

Perhaps it was at many retailers. I'm not sure if they said it was sold out EVERYWHERE in NA.

they said it, and they lied since it wasn't even close to selling out

Um. Why don't you wait for preliminary data to emerge instead of arguing with people about the sales of their product before we even have an official word of Kinect sales?

Not saying anything about Microsoft lying but then you'd have a reason to believe whether or not Microsoft made up the hype or not.

I already know they made it up, the only question is how much more lying they've done

Al right then professor, then why don't you supply us with some of this proof then? Instead of just closing your ears and yelling lalala im right and your wrong?

What can I say, it makes me laugh.

Since when is opinion fact.  Unless you can provide proof of MS's lying it's just an opinion and quite frankly you don't have to repeat it over and over and over again.  Why has this been allowed to go on for 6 pages!? Standard of posting is truely in the dogs.

OT: That's a big statement of support for Kinect.  MS will be happy.

Well GAMESRADAR said it didn't sell out at its launch event.....

http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/xbox-360/news/kinects-new-york-launch-misses-expectations-but-still-a-good-party/a-20101104112747310011/g-20060321132945404017

Can't know if that means anything yet.  The people MS is aiming at are people who wouldn't go to stuff like this.  They would go on amazon or go in the next few days.  We'll see, but yeah it seems they overdid it a bit, that's alot of Kinects for one store lol.

All of MSes Hype, shortening stock for launch to make it more likely to sell out and still falling short, this does mean something

for all your assumptions, do you have any source or are you trolling Kinect and MS again?

Demand varies from place to place. You don't even consider they didn't have enough in some areas and too many in others.

We don't even know how many they sold all together in a single day yet you make a big deal about consoles given away.

What are we even debating? Its clearly a success. You just seem to think not massively enough. Earlier you said they'll be lucky to hit 3 million for the holiday. Like that's a bad thing?

I hate how people don't seem to understand that the demand IS out there. Whether it continues, nobody knows yet but it seems to be a hot item at the moment. Just because the Kinect doesn't appeal to some forum goers appetite doesn't mean it doesn't appeal to other people.

you know, don't get me wrong, but I think it is quite strange to read this from a mod. Do something when you see a thread is getting derailed like this.

One guy derailing the thread, without ANY sources at all and with a history of trolling Kinect. Just make him stop.

This is going to be the trend then. Wii was, is and will always be doomed, and Kinect is "supported in a big way" and "selling out" and is "going to be hard to get"

The way and timing that third parties changed their attitude towards motion controls is making me frustrated. They're so blatantly obvious.

Keep in mind UbiSoft was the biggest supporter of Wii at launch. UbiSoft was like the only publisher other then Sega to really believe in the Wii and Nintendo. So don't hate on UbiSoft they might not have made any killer games for the Wii but at least they had faith when EA and others did not.

They did?

Oh, I take back what I said then.

I wasn't following what third parties said up until 2008, so I don't remember much of the Wii launch, other than some very stupid claims made by some (like that april fools article about Wii winning and epic declaring the Wii doomed and bashing it before launch etc).

Yah EA also said Wii was doomed and so did most publishers and developers. But UbiSoft was like the only company (Besides Sega) who actually thought the Wii would take off. They both physically and verbally showed support. Notice how several launch window titles like Red Steel and Far Cry came from UbiSoft. Sure their games weren't all that great but at least they supported Nintendo out of the gate.

Yah Epic loves to bash Nintendo, they have already started bashing 3DS. I'm alittle concerned UbiSoft and Sega have given up on the hardcore demographic but they are still two of Nintendo's biggest supporters today.

Ubisoft is one of the publisher that is responsible for a lot of (if not most) the crap games that block the shelves for better Wii games.
