(What/could) hardware revision for the Wii (will) increase it sales?

New colors 13 16.88%

No hardware revision will... 24 31.17%

Redesign 9 11.69%

Wii HD? 25 32.47%

Wii slim (jim nah jk)? 6 7.79%

Total:77

So I'm curious what the VGchartz community thinks about hardware revisions for the Wii. Will they increase the Wii's sale like Xbox slim and the PS3 slim? Can the Wii even have a slim version? Or could things like colors or a different design for future Wii models increase it as well or better? OR do they simply don't matter as much as the Xbox and PS3's designs?

What do you guys think? I think a redesign where the Wii is basically a bulkier Wii fit board with a self loading CD drive on the back (not the bottom) or front Wii fit board's side. That way the Wii can have a redesign and Wii Fit as part of the bundle!

Or they can make the Wii look like the original NES. That would be a really cool limited edition collectors item that will probably sell a good 5 million to Wii owners old or new and they can add a software update where one can transfer Wii data via SD Card of internet.

It doesn't need hardware revision, it need games.

Above: still the best game of the year.

How about colors? Do you think those will help?

I really don't think colors will help it. As for hardware revisions... thats not going to help either. The audience the Wii was designed to target probably isn't old enough to spell hardware, or understand it. As for them understanding colors.... they still aren't old enough to pay for it themselves so that doesn't matter much.

EDIT: This post has been moderated... surprised I know how to spell that? -d1

If they could make the smallest home console ever could be  a strong selling point. They should get rid of the gamecube controller/memory card ports,(they could sell an adaptor for the controller for games such brawl) and of the nand memory( would include an sd card in each conosle instead, like they seem they'll do with the 3ds). Also wiimote plus, a revisited wiisport compilation and hdmi.

I think the Wii already is the smallest home console. I guess they can make it smaller by making it look like a small desktop clock..... With leds that tell you the time and alarm functions. (Which might be cool looking if done right)

And I don't think they have to worry about gamecube controllers or SD card anymore. They can make this new Wii let players use the classic control instead for gamecube games and save the Gamcube card data, which is already really small, into SD cards or the internal drive. It probably won't be that hard to do all of this, too.

Nintendo need to sort out a way to transfer games over to a different Wii, only then can they do a successful hardware revision

Hardware revisions is not the way to go, I don't think the typical Wii customer cares about that and colors have proven to be quite ineffective as well (at least the black one did little to nothing)).

Beuli2; have you seen this; http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=118733&page=1 ?

Seems that people are going to have to start deciding whether the library is too weak or very good.

Call me weird, but I could see a significant hardware revision helping. No, HD is not needed, but perhaps more internal storage space, and the ability to run stuff directly from the SD card could help both system sales and the online store sales. Slimming it down would also be nice, but that may have to come at the cost of GC support...
