Forums - Gaming - Would Castlevania and Enslaved done better if they were exclusive?

I doubt exclusitivity would've helped Castlevania or Enslaved by much.

Around the Network

I never supported the idea of exclusivity but I honestly think that Enslaved would have benefited from being an exclusive title.  Even witht the exact same content and absolutely no changes.  And, even with my preference for the 360, I think being a PS3 exclusive would have been the way to go.

One thing that shocked me before, and is somewhat of an X-Factor:  While 360 gamers weren't as receptive to this game long before its launch (no multi-player, online, etc.), there was a surprising amount of hate coming from the Playstation camp.  Some people who were fans of Uncharted felt threatened by this game.  For the record, it's not as good as Uncharted, graphically, technically, or gameplay wise.  But early on, fans of Nathan Drake were knocking Enslaved for it's graphics, gameplay, and platforming (calling it a simplified version of Uncharted's platforming when Uncharted's platforming is actually a simplified version of Tomb Raider Legend's platforming).  But, I digest.

Yes.  I said digest.

They probably would have done better if they didn't suck

Enslaved looked pretty fun.

@ OP

You could always ask it like this "Would Madden do better if it was exclusive?" Answer: No.

they are two completely different games. Madden has been an established ip for maybe 2-3 generations. Enslaved is a new IP. And imo new IPs will get more attention if they are exclusive thus get more sales. Example-Heavy Rain Do you think it would have gotten the sales it did if it was multiplatform?

No, it wouldn't the games are just not good (despite reviews and what the internetz thinks).

Above: still the best game of the year.

Madden and FIFA can't ever be exclusives otherwise EA would lose licensing rights. So well, it's kind of different

Your post sounds like a fallacy. I wish I knew exactly which one it is.

castlevania would have done better if it wasnt called castlevania. no one from the castlevania fanbase wants to play this game...and people who dont play castlevania are saying..."i dont want it, i dont play castlevania"

For me this was true. I love castlevania and butis not a castlevania game.

I am very much interested in enslaved but there have been so many high profile games released, I knew i would just put in my huge backlog. Shame.

Soon the Darkside will be irresistable and will crush the MS rebel scum underfoot.

The Wii owners are like Ewoks. The Evil empire will tolerate them but turn their forest moon into a secret base.

No!

God, I hate it when people think this because it's just one of the dumbest things imagineable.  A smaller userbase doesn't mean better sells.  Even if they were exclusive that doesn't mean they would be first party and that means Sony or Microsoft would not have advertised them like a first party exclusive.

The only people that care are the people that constantly browse game forums and news blogs and those people represent an incredibly minor piece of the userbase.
