I'd like to see on in Holidays 2011 too, but I think that's not likely.

When did Nintendo released a portable and a home console in the same year?

GBA / G-CUBE

Why does everyone keep forgeting about the gba and GC releasing in the same year?

I'm hoping for a march 2012 release. Hopefully by then I'll have enough time and cash for a new system.

The Super Wii will probably launch in Fall 2012, in America. Besides abysmal third party support, Nintendo has no financial reason to launch any sooner. If 3DS is 250-300USD, then the Wii's successor may cost 400USD. Microsoft's not gonna give ANY of it's competitors more than a year of Market control (they learned their lesson with PS2). If need be, they'll probably just use the current version of Kinnect as the standard motion controller for the 720, at launch. Then a few years into the 720's lifespan come out with Kinnect v2.0 (like Nintendo did with Motion Plus).Sony can't afford to enter the Next Gen right away. If Nintendo is the first on the marke, the only thing Sony'll be able to do (right away) is lower the price of PS3 and try to emphasize it's value/versatility to consumers (like they did when Dreamcast came out).

I would guess it goes like this:

Nintendo: 2012

Microsoft: 2014

Sony: 2015

Microsoft and Sony aren't gonna let Nintendo control the market for 2-3 years, even if they have to sacrifice profits and sell at a loss. Theres no way Sony waits 9 years to come out with a sequel to PS3, even with a lingering global recession.

I don't see Sony as having much of a choice, their overall financial picture won't allow them to take massive losses on the Playstation again in the next 2-3 years.

Microsoft could do it finiancially, but would they?  They would leave the 360 generation in the red overall and would now be running large losses for a while again.  Shareholders and upper management will only wait for "potential" profits for so long.

They'll continue selling the ps3 and release the ps4, like ps2-ps3. If Microsoft and Sony launch their new consoles at 2014 and 2015, then they are lost. We dont know anything about N6, and maybe is like N64 or GameCube that were powerful consoles.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I think it will all depend on how Wii does in 2011 and a price cut, if Sony and MS keep pulling ahead, then I wouldn't be surprised to see a new console early 2012.

Also, Nintendo is a Gaming-centered Company, so the Super Wii probably won't have the most cutting edge tech or be  2-3x more powerful (overall) than the PS3. It will however, be able to produce graphics that are comparable to or perhaps better than Cryrsis or Uncharted. Nintendo isn't gonna use any tech or spend more money than absolutley necessary.

Crysis >>>>>Uncharted. So its either going to be better than Uncharted and not as good as Crysis, or better than Crysis therefore by default better than Uncharted.

I'm guessing it's graphics will be somwhere between the two. Wasn't trying to be specific, just giving a general idea of what I'd expect from Nintendo by 2012.

Exactly. MS and Sony could also make marginally upgraded versions of their current systems (PS4 only 1.5x as powerful as PS3) and make profits frome day 1. They could also expand their Online Market places to support more Apps and Multimedia content.

i honestly dont care when it comes out as long as it gd. To be honest though i would like it if they could make the graphics atleats slightly on level with the other consol of the next gen :/

Yeah i know my spelling sucks but im dysgraphic so live with it :3

I'd expect the visual jump from PS3 to Wii 2 being pretty comparable to the visual jump we have with PSP to 3DS.  So same "generation" in terms of rough spec class, but the Nintendo machines will benefit quite a bit from 5 years of technology improvements, development research and cost savings.  It'll still be a perceived jump by most.

By the end of 2011 / early 2012, it'll be pretty easy to put together a machine capable of doing far, far better than Crysis level visuals for under $299.

THESE^   Gamecube graphics were good enough for its generation btw. So was N64.

My thread for teaching VGC some Nigerian slangs

Can't see Nintendo showing a new home console at the next E3, so that would rule out a 2011 release.  I'd expect E3 2012 to be when they show their next home console, but I doubt that would be for a worldwide holiday release - the Wii will probably continue to do very well around Christmas for the next few years, and releasing a new console during such a period would damage that.  Japan might see a 2012 release if Wii hardware sales all but dry up there, but I think a spring/summer 2013 release is most likely for the rest of the world.  There are still a lot of titles that would sell in the millions that I expect to see on the Wii at some point (Mario Golf and Tennis, Starfox, Luigi's Mansion 2, PilotWiings) - even if third parties continue to keep their AAA stuff for the HD consoles, Nintendo's offerings alone should be enough to sustain decent hardware sales for another two holidays after this one, and I'm sure Nintendo want to milk the Wii for all it can before releasing the next system.

On top of that, I'm sure Nintendo can afford a couple of significant price drops between now and the next console.  I expect it to drop to £130 at some point next year and the mass-market £99 price point the year after.  I don't think the PS2 hit its sales peak until it was at one of those two price points, so Wii sales could seriously spike when its price hits those points.
