Well Ninokuni is also coming out for the DS. All I have seen in gaming stores, etc. are posters and info for the DS version. Is the PS3 version coming out at the same time?

Nope, the PS3 version is "TBA 2011".  It was also entirely absent from the recent Level-5 Vision conference, despite specifically being one of the announced games for it beforehand.

Who says that MHP3 will ever hit (on the Wii)?

Reminds me of those posts that where listening Ni no Kuni Wii and unannounced Level 5 Wii project for a late 2010/11 release.

I don't see the point in it beside giving yourself hope that things will change.

Who says MHP3 will ever hit on Wii?  I certainly didn't. ;)

Level-5 has (wisely) sidestepped Wii/PSP/PS3 in favor of 3DS it's looking like.  Hino's the smartest man in Japan.

Ninokuni is quite possibly the most expensive Level-5 game to date

Saying they have side-stepped the Ps3 is inaccurate considering WKC2 and Ninokuni coming up.

I think Ninokuni is their attempt at creating their own big worldwide brand, like the Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Pokemon series.

Well obviously Ninokuni's the most expensive L5 game to date, it's been in development over 3 years now and they're working with Studio Ghibli on it.  That shit ain't cheap.  :P

Speaking of Ninokuni though, you're aware it started out PS3 only, and they decided to do a DS version later to recoup it's costs, right?  Honestly the way it's looking, the game will probably be their first and last self-published PS3 game (same deal for IE Strikers on Wii and LBX on PSP).  3DS is the future, and Level-5 is ready...

L-5 already has a premier worldwide brand too, in Professor Layton.  Inazuma Eleven has lots of potential too... worldwide, I doubt Ninokuni (DS or PS3) will outsell either series' top sellers.

Level-5 is also trying to make Ninokuni a premiere worldwide brand, they aren't just going to give up on it.

And to do that they need the PS3 version to succeed a lot, in Japan and in the West.

3DS may be the future or it may not.....that isn't proven yet. Once upon a time the PS3/N64 was the future and the surefire king of the next generation.

Once upon a time SNES/PS2 was the future and the surefire king of the next gen.  2nd time's the charm, 3rd time's the bomb. ;)

And yeah, Ninokuni will get a huge push, no doubt... but Layton has been a somewhat unheralded success story in all markets (thanks in large part to Nintendo too), and Inazuma Eleven is an even bigger hit in Japan and i'd say it's European potential is similarly massive... comparably, I just don't see Ninokuni as a concept being on par worldwide (though I do think it may beat both in Japan alone, Ghibli = Money).  Worldwide though, I definitely see it 3rd in line.

For upcoming L-5 cross-media IP blitzes, I'm actually most curious about how LBX/Danboard Senki does.  I'll be big in Japan for sure (though how big is always a question... 300k big? 500k big?  800k big? 1m plus big?), but it has like zero potential elsewhere due to it's platform. :/

Yup. Who said that? Where did you see someone said it?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Looks like Move has sold to roughly 30k-40k people in Japan. Not to bad, but hopefully it legs it out at that range for the month at least and then pick up to about 100k-200k for Nov.-Dec.

First day was famitsu... first week was MC.

But you have a point.

Vanquish (PS3): 47k (FD) / 48k (FW)
Vanquish (360): 9k (FD) / 11k (FW)
Naruto Storm 2 (PS3): 72k (FD) / 63k (FW)
Naruto Storm 2 (360): 13k (FD) / under 6k (FW)
Fifa 11 (PS3): 21k (FD) / 19k (FW)

Those 1st day sales were probably fake too.

With that 11k, No More Heroes 2 passes 200k worldwide :P It somehow topped Vanquish 360.

Numbers are terrible all around. Kirby needs legs, the Wii needs.....God knows what, and Move has a disappointing start.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Kirby bomb? :S didn't see that one coming..I actually thought the art style will appeal a great deal to the Jp audience

Move ok start...hope it keeps up

and ps3 > wii again...close to 10k difference

So has ps3 offically outsold wii more weeks this year in Jp yet? :P
