Forums - Microsoft - I am really, really close to buying a 360

So I've been thinking about trading my Wii and its games in to reduce the price on a 360S 250GB at GameStop, but as it turns out, I can get a 360 for less than what GameStop offers, even after I trade in all that stuff. So I'm considering buying one right now, and considering it really hard.

But I've got a few questions.

- What comes in the package? A month of Live? A headset?

- What batteries do the controllers use? Do I need to buy battery packs and a charger or something?

- Do I need Gold to buy from marketplace?

- I'm looking for some cheap games, so it would be nice to have old games recommended. I already have my eyes on a few, but it would be nice to get some additional feedback. Online multiplayer is a low priority though.

- I'm really torn on whether to wait for Kinect or not. On one hand, I really want to support it, because I think it has a lot of potential, but there just anything all too exciting right now. And I don't trust games that have been announced, but with no gameplay shown. With Kinect, I need to see gameplay more than ever. And I already have Move and Wii, so I'm not desperate for motion controls (although the voice commands are sweet). I've tried out Kinect Sports and wasn't terribly impressed, though that was probably more down to the game itself than anything else. But getting a bundle would make it much easier to buy into it, with the price reduced by a third (I have a hard time seeing myself paying full price for Kinect as a stand alone product). GAH! Opinions please...

So yeah, thanks ahead.

EDIT: It's all settled now, I got all my answers, but you're still welcome to come with game suggestions.

Not an option, it's all about the 360 here and now.

well they are very cheap in the uk £119 ive seen them for but mainly £129 if you want the core model.

if you get the HDD model should be £189 and comes with headset, you will have to buy a charger though but you can use AA batts for it. you will get a month of live with your new live registration but it is restricted.

games well you will find them cheap, one of the things i like about my 360 over my ps3 is the games are cheaper preowned. eg. i recently bought SC conviction for £7.99 on ebay it was released this year, you will never find premium games that cheap on ps3

you dont need to be gold to buy from marketplace.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

If you wanna buy it then just buy it, just like how I sold it because I wanted to sell it. You shouldn't need convincing to get something, or that just means you don't truly want it imo, unless of course, there are money issues, which means you shouldn't buy it anyways. Also, you need Gold to play online and have voice chat, I'd just get a PS3 personally, at least there wouldn't be upkeep to play online and whatnot.

So yeah, thanks ahead.

In the bundle you should get a month of live a wireless controller and a headset. The controllers take double AA batteries and last from 4-16 hours depending on battery. Therefore you probably want some rechargeable batteries.

You can make purchases from the free or silver membership but you cannot run netflix play online or listen to last fm.

For cheap games it all depends on preference but Assassins Creed, Ninja Gaiden 2, Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead are all under 20 bucks so they are a nice start.

Based on what you said and since you likely wont be buying a gold membership I wouldn't invest in Kinect. You can stream on your wii and PS3 netflix for free, the PS3 plays dvds and blurays so the need to watch movies on the 360 is lessened. Therefore you would be buying it for the games and since you have limited interest in the games you can spend your 150 somewhere better.

From what I remember you get 1-month of XBox Live Gold as well as a headset. You only get composite cables, although if you have an HDMI on your PS3 you can easily swap between, so no big deal.

- What batteries do the controllers use? Do I need to buy battery packs and a charger or something?

Each controller will require 2x AA batteries or else you will need to purchase a Plug and Play kit, which costs around $15-20 USD. No idea of the price in Denmark, sorry.

- Do I need Gold to buy from marketplace?

No, you can purchase DLC, download Demos, buy games, etc... with only a Silver Account from what I remember, but Gold is required for just about anything else. If multiplayer isn't important then Silver will provide you with pretty much everything you need.

- I'm looking for some cheap games, so it would be nice to have old games recommended. I already have my eyes on a few, but it would be nice to get some additional feedback. Online multiplayer is a low priority though.

I only suggest my favorite 360 title and that is Tales of Vesperia. It is my favorite JRPG this generation, hands down.

I would avoid Kinect until you at least see 5-10 games you absolutely know you would play and enjoy for a prolonged period of time. Buying something just to support it without any guarantee of seeing games you consider "must own" is foolish in my opinion.

So yeah, thanks ahead.
