I just looked at the sales on the front page and it looks like the Wii has outsold the other two systems combined in this past week.

How novel.

And toppign the 80M mark and topping gameboy advance LT sales and is likely to hit 90M Q2 2011, and they say wii novelty is wearing off? they've been saying that for 4 years lol

Well it wore off after the first year. It's the awesomeness that keeps selling. Novelty is stuff like HD, since better graphics always end up dated the next gen.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Wii is a bit more than a novelty I'de say, if the novelty did really wear off you'de think the sales would be much lower than it is now.

I don't think you guys know what "novelty" means. Nor does that RaD guy.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/novelty

  • 1: something new or unusual
  • 2: the quality or state of being novel : newness
  • 3: a small manufactured article intended mainly for personal or household adornment —usually used in plural
  • 4: something (as a song or food item) that provides often fleeting amusement and is often based on a theme —often used attributively

This is why calling Wii a novelty is meaningless. It's quality is what keeps it selling. High definition is a novelty because the newness will wear off. HD game will have to last based on if they are good, not how good they look. TV shows and movies might not since they are the same in any definition (and youtube shows people don't care too much about resolution).

It's how awesome a game is that uses motion controls, not how improved the controls are. After all, even starndard Wii motion can be done right and have an awesome game.

The novelty wore off Since 2008 I believe.

Why?  Wii sales are amazing

The Industry hates Wii, consumers love it
