I am basing my opinions on reviews and the way my ps3/x360 plus blu rays dvds look on my 46 inch sony bravia 1080p.

But have you compared it to how those same sources look on a plasma display of comparable size?

however, for the price of those two samsungs on amazon the 50 and 42...wow. Hard to lose either way for those prices'

I'm back! Sorry I was studying. Goose Samsung DOES rate the half-life for their recent Plasmas and any made within the last couple years have 60,000 hour half-lives or more (60K is my 42"). So yeah, Samsungs are great values, as are Panasonics. Those are the two brands I trust the most in Plasma.

Also, my friends and I always game at my apartment because of how much better my Plasma is than their LCD. My room has a normal amount of sunlight (no direct light on the TV) and the picture difference is huge. Everything on the Plasma is much more defined because of the better blacks. Also, the LCD has a slight input lag. Try playing Guitar Hero with input lag...

The Half-Life of 60,000 hours gives well over 10 years of TV use without any color fade, which is longer than most people go before replacing TVs. Screen Burn-in DOES NOT HAPPEN under any normal circumstances. You would have to leave a static image on your TV for well over a week for that to happen. So do not be concerned about burn-in.

The only comparisions I have visually are at bestbuy which is not really fair because of the lighted rooms.

That is why i read unbiased opinions (consumer report and cnet) and chose a Sony Bravia lcd.

@kvh22000:

I apologize if I seemed to be attacking your posts; you just seemed to be trolling at first but you have actually bothered to back up your claims, so thank you.

The main point I am trying to make, however, is that I have had extensive experience with both types of televisions with HD sources under ideal circumstances, and I have seen plasma to be the better choice without question. I say it again, black level is king. LCD technology can never compete in this area.

If you are going to get an LCD, a Sony Bravia is best.  My experience is with a 50" LCD vs. a 42" Plasma.  Both are appartments with similar lighting conditions in the living rooms.  Basically, as long as I put the shades down on the window in my apartment and close the screen across the porch doors, the colors are vibrant and easy to see.

The chance of an input lag on an LCD is a big draw, although it's not very comon in Bravias.  The problem is the cheaper LCDs (the prices Bod are looking at) are going to have that issue, and as you go down in price in LCD the quality drops like a rock, wheras some of the best Plasmas are no more expensive than some of the crappiest LCDs.
