I doubt it could be Sony, but Sega, well theres another ball game entirely. i could see Apple and Sega enjoying a relationship where Sonic leads the way on iphone gaming, or maybe backing this Dreamcast 2 Yuji Naka wants, either way i doubt its either Sega or Sony.

It makes sense for Apple to purchase Sony just like it make sense for Microsoft to purchase Sony.  Both have the cash on hand to make such a purchase but it probably would tank both companies to go that route. 

People have mentioned Adobe and thats more sensible money wise so look for a company like Adobe where it would not cost Apple more than a few billion to purchase but gives them more market share in a space they are weak.

What matters is market cap and the available funds. Apple have enough to buy a 51% share in Sony many times over. Sony could not afford a 51% share in Apple.

I hope, for your sake, that this is a joke.


Why would it be a joke? he is 100% correct. The only thing that matters in a buyout is the cost per share (i.e. the market cap of the company), anything else is immaterial. Still I would find the rumors hard to believe, Sony is not a healthy company, people here focus on the PS brand which is doing well, the rest of the company is in the toilet.
