Forums - Gaming - Is this your last Gen?

As someone who's life has taken over from gaming thanks to children, job, wife etc. I can honestly say I have little time for gaming compared to the amount I used to play. Other things take priority, it happens to all of us, however I don't think I would ever say I'll give up on games.

I have owned almost every console released in europe since the spectrum (I know the Spectrum is not technically a console but I was 4 at the time and only played games on it) and with each generation I have spent less time playing games as other things have taken priority but I am still able to find time here and there though I have had to change my game choices. Much less rpg's on my shelf now and many more of what I would call "pickup and drop" games like God of war, bayonetta, gears, fifa etc where you can just play for an hour at a time.

Basically what i'm saying is, stick to games that don't require commitment and you don't have to give up.

Im only 14 and i feel like im giving up already :/

I love gaming so much, it's so fun, it's my hobby. But you are right, its all about online and XBOX 360 and First Person Shooters these days because there world is overflowing with fuckwits these days. Rarely do i ever find a great game this generation, and rarely do i find a "gamer" that has a decent taste.

Nope, I didn't even plan to be that active this gen but I got sucked in :P.

Gamer 4 Life.

The first half of this gen has been rather mediocre though, but the second half is gonna be better I think.

It won't be my last gen but I'm definitely going to scale back next gen.

I only plan to buy 1 console, and only if its $300 or less. And I'm only going to buy maybe 3-5 games a year, only the big releases. I've spent way too much money on gaming this gen already. I calculated a while ago that I'd spent somewhere in the $2000's this gen on all my shit (I got some of that back with trade-ins though).

I will continue gaming, but not all out like I did this generation. I will most likely pass on psp2 and the next xbox.

I agree with this.

I have spent at least $4,000-$5,000 this generation between my PS3, 360, Wii, PSP and Wii. My days of multiconsole ownership is over. I will be going with 1 handheld and 1 console next gen. Will wait until PSP2 is unveiled before I bite on 3DS.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

It is not because you only buy a few games a year and don't spend much time on it, that you not will be a gamer anymore;.

Wow that's crazy. I'm with you though, no more being multi console.

Next gen I'll wait at least 6 months after Sony and MS have their consoles out and buy whichever one looks like its doing better and has the best 3rd party support exclusives.

Believe it or not, I am also one of this site's biggest pirates. Shows not to judge a book by it's cover.

I have simultaneously given more to the industry and taken more from this industry than majority on this site.
