you know they should really bring back the comment feature for the sales area. i miss reading the comments for MK Wii and wii fit right before their launch to when they each passed 20 million. oh the lulz it brought
anyway to answer the question...word of mouth? or the sales are wrong

Just marketing! Wii party will be marketed for the whole holiday season along with Just Dance 2 and DK. It was obvious its first week was too little...I expect it to reach 3 millions WW in its first 15 weeks.
I think I read somewhere that serious marketing in EU started only after it came out.

I disagree with the "marketing" part. If marketing worked, it would have opened big and continues on a steady decline week over week.
Words of mouth doesn't really explain the tripple amount the second week.
lots of people on this site make the same mistake over and over again when it comes to a casual game's sales.
most successful casual games start really low, get bigger in the following weeks and then develop huge legs.
i bet that for at least 2 december weeks wii party will sell more than 250k in emeaa alone.
oh, and just dance 2, will probably follow the same pattern.

It's a casual game. Casuals don't buy magazines, don't live on forums and buy games only because a) they play them with friends or b) they see them at tv. I think the second factor is the main one for now, while during the holidays word of mouth will work better. Outside of these what could possibly push more sales?
the fact that it is bundled with a wiimote. people who need an extra controller will buy wii party, only because it's a 10€ game bundled to a wiimote. wii play sold 27M only because of that, and wii party looks a much better game than wii play.
