You don't need the nav controller at all...plus the camera is not a controller |
I didn't say that. I said for a complete setup. The camera can be used to control aspects of play so technically is a controller.
Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.
| leo-j said: According to sony they have sold around 2.5 million move controllers in just North America, Latin America, and Europe, move launched today in japan... it's likely that sony sells another 3 million controllers by the end of the year, with the holiday season approaching, over 5 million move controllers may have been sold by the end of december... microsoft expects to sell 3-4 million kinect the holidays...
|
Oh, typical Leo-J
Sony SHIPPED that amount. Sold to consumers is another story entirely. I think MS expects to sell through to consumers that many Kinects.
Another thing, Sony doesn't say what they are referencing in that number but it likely combines Move Controllers, Nav Controllers, Move Bundles, etc all into that. Kinect is a 1 purchase deal while to get the full Move experience people will have to purchase up to 3 extra controller devices, drastically skewing that comparison.
So for total hardware sold counting secondary controllers, yes Move may outsell Kinect for 2010. As far as unique users of the devices, Kinect will win that hands down and with it being sold out pretty much everywhere, I expect Kinect to sell every unit that is able to be produced and easily make the 3-4 million goal and then some.

Dunno them all but according to both NPD and Charttrack, Eyepet was the top selling Move standalone game, and it did 30k US and 38k UK. Not exactly encouraging for a peripheral that's shipped 2.5m in the west... |
I thought SC was the highest selling Move title in the UK in the last few weeks? It's no suprise that Eyepet was a bigger seller than SC in the US if bundled copies are excluded.
So now we know that Sony have sold(/shipped) 2.5M Move controllers, exceeding most peoples expectations, we've moved onto saying software sold(but not counting previously released games that have been patched, and without knowing how many copies of Move games on PSN have been sold) is the new barometer for success?

Sony SOLD that amount. Their PS3 customers, who they sell to, are retailers. I would hazard a guess that MS also mean sold to retailers.
BS. What is this crap people keep coming out with that you need all these extra controllers for "the full Move experience"? You need one, yes ONE, Move controller.
Ah OK, I've asked this a few times and nobody has answered me yet, but it looks like you know. How many units are MS shipping for launch?
| pezus said: This comparing Sports Champions sales directly with Move sales is nonsense because SC is not the only Move "killer-app" that has been released. I have not bought it but I can still play Heavy Rain, RE5 and Move demos...I think this 80% figure is just way too high, in Europe especially. |
Thats right. I bought the move but am using it with Heavy Rain only atm. Didnt but any game for it.
| Carl2291 said: I wouldn't say they should be compared at all for a couple of reasons.
PS Move's numbers will be inflated because people would buy numerous Move controllers, while you only need a single Kinect. It's hard to track how many households Move is into accurately due to all the different bundles/games that are Move compatible. Kinect will be a lot easier to track because every Kinect comes with Kinect Adventures.
You just can't accurately, or fairly compare them sales-wise. But if you want to compare them with every single Move controller sold vs every single Kinect sold... I'm just gonna watch from the sidelines. |
well you said All I needed to say.
WHAT HE SAID!

That's like saying you need a gun addon for fps games... |
Not really. A gun is a hollow shell with no electronics. It's not sold as a general option for a variety of games either.
Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.
I will not be surprised, Move is cheaper, you require two in some games and it also came out earlier
