No I got the faint idea of this from an anime series reccomended to me (well its only 5 episodes long)

Just watch the movie. Don't bother with the OVA.
Certainly. Humans can fall in love with imaginary "people" and an android actually exists so...
Plus, I believe that androids of the future will be organic. Those androids will only differ from "real" people in the way they were created.
