Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo doesn't give a 5|-|!t about the Wii

Thread titles must be work safe, descriptive and on topic. Keep the language in thread titles clean. We don't restrict language usage in posts (up to a point), but thread titles are a different matter. Whatever luridly foul things you wish to say about Luigi, you can find a work safe euphemism for the title. Also, letter substitution fools nobody, but strings of unpronounceable symbols are acceptable.

I should be locking this, but TheSource's posts make me not want to lock it.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Nintendo's own lineup is fine, great even... the problem (as ever) is with 3rd parties.

Also, DQX will be the "last Wii hit", not Zelda SS. :P

This year has seen some great third party games - Red Steel 2, Monster Hunter Tri, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom have all been great. There's still Goldeneye, COD:BO and Sonic Colours still to come.

Great games sure, but outside MH3 and Sonic Colors, they're all still "B team" efforts.  That's still fundamentally the 3rd party problem on Wii, they almost always bring the B/C tier efforts and cry foul when it doesn't merit AAA sales....

I agree, Nintendo is not supporting the Wii, nor the DS.

In fact, they focus on their own hardware.

Agreed - to a degree! I get a little tired of hearing about how badly third parties perform on Wii. There have been a lot of BIG third party games that also flop on the HD consoles, but for some reason people don;t enjoy talking about that, what's more when an HD game flops it has a lot more to lose. Just look at the underperformance of Lost Planet 2 or the poor openings of Castlevania and Enslaved.

There has a been a lot of third party success on Wii, it just hasn't been for more traditional games. But the problem isn't just with the Wii. Great games like Bayonetta fail to do a million on either system, but games like Medal of Honor (which to by all accounts is lack lustre to say the least) sell well.

I think when the 3DS comes out, Nintendo will favorite it over the Wii. I still think Nintendo will still make great games on the Wii after Skyward Sword, I just don't know what games they will be.

Why is it, the so called most hardcore Nintendo fans, are becoming the new Nintendo pessimists. Given it could be worse, they could be the hardcore ps3 fans, when the ps3 was doing bad. . .(dark days)

maybe by now everyone has one, I mean if you dont have one at this point, then you really dont want one. Ninty dont care about their online though, we can be sure about that

Are you trying too tell us that the Wii is doomed!? :O

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

The market isn't ready for a Wii successor. The Nintendo market is a mostly value-oriented market and a Wii Successor would probably launch at a price similar to what the 360 launched at unless it was 2 Wii's duct-taped together. lol. The hardcore Nintendo fans that'll buy Nintendo even at a steep price ($250 US for 3DS, which is the expected launch price. No way it launches at $300 US) are in the minority. The 3DS is only going to have mostly core Nintendo fan appeal when it comes out. The mass appeal won't figure in until it's like $180 US or less.

No, not Nintendo pessimists, Nintendo crybabies is more like. We have a holiday lineup this season of exclusive games that wipes the floor with the competition, and all people can do is whine. It's pretty sad.
