yup pokemon is more popular on handhelds then halo on consoles. No they shouldn't count as seperate sales even though there probably are many people who bought both since thats their own damn fault. But its just funny to see the people always complaining about fps showing no innovation, praising pokemon. O the irony. 12 years since red/blue and I'm still waiting for that innovation. Pokemon is nintendo's call of duty. Why should game freaks change anything. Why should activision change anything, when people will buy these mediocre games regardless.

Yeah....Pokemon is Nintendo's list innovated title. Even DK has its formula mixed up often. I don't get every PKM game dat comes out, just like 1 in 3 & I enjoy it that way. But I wouldn't call Pokemon or Call of Duty mediocre. I'll just call em More-of-the-same a lot.

The sales are quite insane. For a comparison, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl sold 2.6 million in its first 4 weeks. Diamond/Pearl ended up selling 6 million in Japan, and become the 5th best selling game ever there.

Black/White should end somewhere around there too. That will make the top 7 best-selling games in Japan all either Pokemon or Mario. It will also make the DS have 6 of the top 10 best selling games there.

 

 

Someone brought up a question about the biggest franchises. Pokemon is nowhere near Mario. But again, nothing is anywhere near Pokemon either. Unless you count the Wii series. Don't shoot me if I forgot anything.

1. Mario - 416.5 million

2. Pokemon - 194 million

3. Grand Theft Auto - 87 million

4. Final Fantasy - 84 million

5. Sonic - 75 million

6. Call of Duty - 68 million

Zelda - 60 million

 

It's a short list, because I'm really just illustrating a point with the top 3.

@Pineapple, wow! That's a list I really needed to see? Can u link me to your source so I cam see a bigger one? I didn't know Zelda was as high as number 7 and see how high Sonic is! And now that the  Sonic games seem to be improving their quality, it just may get higher! 4 of the 5 games I consider the best in console history made it to the top 7. Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy & GTA. The 5th, Metal Gear, well it would be a shame if it ain't in the top ten!

It should go: 

1. Mario

2. Pokemon

3. The Sims

4. Final Fantasy

5. GTA

...8. Zelda

(I think :p) And Mario is definitely not over 400million xD I think it's over 200 million, and Pokemon is about 50 million behind it.

As of October the 9th.


Xbox worldwide = 43.8M

DS in Japan = 31.4M



Complete comic
