If a game is going to sell better it will show it in the first 6-12 months..  In 6 months of sales you'll know...

HALO Reach has also been out less then a year ( as you said GT 5 has been out less then a year above ), but it passed Halo 2 ( a couple months ago) and is now the 2nd best selling Halo  of all time..  http://www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=Halo+&publisher=&console=&genre=&minSales=0&results=50&sort=Total

 .. So while Gt 5 will sell more copies, it'llprobably never sell enough to be anything better then moving from 5th to  4th place .. after the first 6 months a games sales slow significantly.. GT 5 ( or even REACH ) will need 2 years to sell another million, if they do.. Which is why I dont beleive Reach will overtake Halo 3 for 1st place.. but it could get close, but i doubt it will.. Reach ( now at 8.6 million ) will likely hit 10 million in a year or two.. so lifetime sales will be very respectable for a Halo title..

They will most likely sell 500k-1M these holidays alone.

Anything is possible.. i sorta doubt 1 million for those two  titles in holiday sales though..

Again im not expert, but game sales of any game slow significantly near the 1 year mark.. looking at trends here at Vgchartz for either game shows any significant sales happened in the first 10 weeks of any game.. most games are lucky to sell 500-750k copies during the entire 2nd year worldwide since copies sold are bought by casual gamers and parents looking for bargain prices..

Uhh... no. Uncharted 2 sold 1.6 million between its 4th and 16th month(2010). And it'll sell around 800k-1 million this year. What are you basing your sales trends off of? GT5 will easily sell close to 4 million between 2011 and 2012, and that's not even accounting for adjustments that are likely to occur once shipments are updated. IIRC last year GT4 shipped around 200k 6 years after its launch.

this holiday season should be very kind to GT5 with the PS3 price drop making both look more attractive.

then next yr when gt5 becomes a greatest hits sells should continue to spike, and will have the final price cut to $19.99 so i don't see whts stopping it from selling 12-13m or more.
