I can't see them having good legs; the sales numbers were probably inevitable due to October being by far the most crowded month this holiday with other bigger games just around the corner. Neither of them are going to be million sellers and even getting to 500K might be hard.

I think you're wrong. Look at Mirror's Edge for example.

360 week 1: 85,307

PS3 week 1: 65,544

And it had legs for a while after that (Holidays) and now it's above 1 million on 360 and it might reach 1 million on PS3 someday.

Now look at Castlevania.

360 week 1: 67,126

PS3 week 1: 81,077

I'm sure it will reach 1 million on at least one console. Plus it was better received than Mirror's Edge.

Not sayign you are wrong, but mirrors edge was cut down to 29.99 in 3 months and is like 9.99 now at most stores.

Mirror's Edge was an outright bizarre case because I can't remember any instance since or before it where that happened. But let's face facts here, just because it happened for ONE game doesn't mean it's somehow gonna happen for these two. Plus Mirror's Edge had a legitimately unique hook while Lords of Shadow and Enslaved are both highly derivative.

Yeah. But the same thing might happen with Castlevania and Enslaved.

I'd like to add that those Castlevania sales exclude Japan so one must expect even more sales.

I ain't spending a dime on Lords of Shadow and I bought pretty much every castlevania to come out in the last 10 years (except judgement on wii).

Not a castlevania I wanted to play...I'm pretty sure it will fail in Japan as well. Japanese rarely like the american style...burger with cheese type...combat based gameplay which Lords of Shadow offers. I seriously hope it fails so they can reboot this reboot and do it properly...

As far as enslaved, I am glad I rented that too. It gets boring pretty quickly.

I don't think anyone is worried about the Japanese. That market is dead.

Castlevania will do much better than Mirror's Edge in Japan, which should help.

I'm pretty sure it will reach one million, especially on PS3.

Japan isn't in to the kind of thing Lords of Shadow is. Big hacky-slashy games aren't their thing (heck, even the DMC series has only a modest following in Japan and that's the most successful of the genre by far) and they're going to take one look at the box and go "Western?  Screw it." Unfair? Yes, but that's how the cookie crumbles.

I guess, but their styles is way different than say GoW, DMC, and Ninja Gaiden. Those three are what Lords of Shadow is imitating and that kind of fighting isn't what Japan is into.

Not to mention Enslaved has had more advertising than Heavenly Sword too...

Can't agree with you, there.  I've seen Enslaved ads online and that's about it.  For Heavenly Sword, there was online ads, print ads, TV advertisements, and product placement (like showing the game on an episode of the hot new show "Heroes").  But yeah.  I'm disappointed with Enslaved's performance.  I just finished the game about an hour ago and I think it was great.   The downside is that the game isn't very long and there's not really much incentive to play again.  People looking for more bang for their buck won't need much more than a rental to get the full Enslaved experience.
