What sarcasm? There ARE a lot of big games upcoming: DK Returns, Kirby now, GoldenEye, Epic Mickey, Fliying Smash, Sonic Colors, and others I don't remember. |
Now now, don't be angry at him. He just paid big money for a sarcasm detector that doesn't work.

Evidences for what? All users here knew that the PS3 was undertracked.
NPD, Charts in Europe, financial reports, PR, etc confirmed this.
Before these adjustmens there was the following scenario:
PS3 sold: 36M
PS3 shipped: 38.1M
Over 2M on shelves.
Now there was the new scenario:
PS3 sold: 36.6M
PS3 shipped: 38.1M
1.5M on shelves... much more realistic and accurate.
All data from end of June (last financial report).

I don't know where the EMEAA adjustment was in. Probably had something to do with that SCEE CEO interview. The upwards adjustment in Americas appears to be a long-term one, going back more than a year. PS3 was performing MUCH better in Canada relative to the USA.

bwahahaha so you still remember that NPD thread |
I do. The people calling that 360 tied with the PS3 that time will def shut up this time (or any other time for that matter). Just classic

Ah yes, that's correct. I forgot about missing Steam sales and I also think the irrational Civ fanboy in me expected more, while Firaxis is probably content with Civ V sales. Civ was probably never as big as I thought in the first place. |
Lawl I keep posting way late but whatever.
Plus many fans including me are not happy with CiV. That game was a step backwards from day one if you ask me.

Did you read my post? I think your the one seeing this through pink tinted glasses Let me break it down: 1. This generation isn't IMMUNE to decline......yet we have 1 console in its 5th year on the market up YOY......that is virtually unheard of especially considering this console is in 2nd place, not even 1st place. 2. The reason for Wii's YOY decline is obvious, its games library. That issue of a drought has caught up to the Wii, and now one year ago it had a price cut.....so the YOY decline looks even worse......but again IT HAD A PRICE CUT 1 YEAR AGO....of course YOY will look worse. 3. You know the reason for PS3's YOY decline, I won't even bother saying why. 4. Now the consoles in points 2 and 3 are both in their 4th year (so past what is usually the peak year which takes place in a consoles 3rd year in its life)......and one of them isn't even at Mass Market price point showing future potential. You keep going on about Massive Decline....well that is expected, I would be surprised if PS3 wasn't at a massive decline in terms of YOY sales. Sorry to break it to you but this generations isn't doomed, I really don't know how people came to this conclusion. |
Not only that, but last gen there were 191 mil consoles shipped between the 3 major consoles. This also includes PS2's continuing sales to date. So far this gen, as of the last financial reports, there has been 154 consoles shipped. By the end of the year they may even be close to reaching that 191 mil mark, and there are still a good 1-2 years left in this gen.
And you also have to consider that ALL the major consoles have shipped at least 40 mil consoles by now, the first time that has ever happened within a gen. Hell, last gen XBox and Gamecube didn't even reach 25 mil. Also, by the end of this gen it is very likely all consoles will reach and pass the 50 mil mark. The SNES, the leader of its gen, wasn't even able to reach the 50 mil mark. The console market is very much alive.

But the problem is that during the same time frame developing expenses have risen even more than console sales. Most publishers are really struggling to make profit even though gaming market is bigger than it was last gen.
