First of all, PS3 never saw a 1 million sales week. It's strongest week was last year at 989k, and without the assistance of the PS3 Slim effect, it won't ever get another 1 million sales week. It could break 800k in the week before christmas, but with Kinect having less competition during its release, it may just steal the show.
This thread is a good reference of sales:

and it shows PS3 sales are more similar to X-Box 360 2009 holiday sales. However without any big exclusive title between Move and GT5, PS3 Holiday sales may just be, like you said it, poo.
I think the people at Sony really messed up this fall. Except for the PS Move, the PS3 has no big name exclucive games until December 2009! I mean it's spring had a better lineup, and someone at Sony should have done what MS did with GoW3, and they should have delayed their own GoW3 to fall 2009.
I think PS3 yearly sales will be sub 12 million this year, and the 360 lead will grow exceptionally thanks to Fable and Kinect comming out soon. Also with some CoD console bundles, and early map packs, the 360 is likely now to get a heavy boost in November sales.
As for December, the PS3 will probably at best only match 360 sales. The 360 will have had soo much more to offer this fall, CoD: BO exclusive console bundles, and early map packs, Fable 3, Kinect, Halo, and ressonance slim effects. More people buy 360's now then PS3's and this will pretty surely remain the situation for 2010. With Kinect advertizing, and a very strong fall, it's unlikely to see dominance switch from 360 to PS3 just because of one game. It will be a great game, but generally Novemeber is a stronger window for a game to sell, and Kinect has that. Sony lost the battle this fall, and it was a battle they desperatly needed.
The PS3 had a chance at overtaking 360 overall sales, but with such a lackluster fall lineup (1 game in December and Move), and sales being over the hill (past the peak year in sales), PS3 will unlikely never catch up to MS.
I'm just interested to see how well PS3 will sell this fall. Will the difference from 360-PS3 be greater then the PS3-360 difference last fall? What will PS3 yearly sales end up at, 11 or 12 million?
I think this fall, the more interesting battle is Wii versus 360. They seem to be stronger compeditors saleswise, and gamewise this fall. I'm betting 360 sales will be closer to Wii then PS3.
