I love screw attack and when I saw this weeks episode was top ten local multiplayer games I was exstatic. As I thought Nintendo themselves dominated the top ten with five of the top ten developed by Nintendo developers. With the sixth title for Nintendo's platforms was developed by Rare.

So how did Nintendo do?

10th WiiSports, 9th MarioParty 2 , 8th Pac-Man Versus , 4th MarioKart64 , 2nd SmashBros:Melee and 1st GoldenEye.

Also on the list were two titles from Nintendo's competitors Twisted Metal and Halo both made the list. So do you agree, has Nintendo made the best local multiplayer games to date?

But local multiplayer isn't played anymore. We know this because developers say so... but give no statistical proof.

Yah I wonder with WiiPlay, WiiSports:Resort, MarioKart, SmashBros , MarioParty , NSMB all sellion millions nah local gaming must be dead, Nintendo just magically sells a crap load of em!

I prefer local multiplayers. Try getting 4 girls to play NSMBWii, you'll go deaf.

if you're playing with friends, local multiplayer is where it's at

Actually my number 1 local multiplayer was FIFA 98 with 10 players :p

For 4 players, then yes goldeneye was the best, and smash brothers second.

Counting only consoles, then probably yes.

Unless you count LAN as local, that's a dubious assertion at best.

For consoles? I would say so. All in all with PC counted; hell no, and even the most stoic Nintendo fan has to agree on that.

Edit; you do know what LAN stand for right, LordTheNightKnight? Local Area Network, would be kind of silly not to count that as local if you ask me. Nintendo can't be the best at everything, and when it comes to multiplayer games, both local and online, the PC rapes all consoles ever made, even combined.
