Forums - Nintendo - Should Nintendo put the next F-Zero on hold?

Every now and then Nintendo decides hold off on a series for a generation. I think that should be the fate of F-zero Wii. Nintendo should wait until the next console to tour Captain Falcon.

Why?

Besides emphasizing speed, speed, and more speed, F-zero games throughout the years have been easy on the eyes for racing games in their given generation. I'm normally not a graphics whore, but having an unparalleled experience is a big draw to F-zero games.

In terms of rounding out the Wii library there are some great crazy racers. Love it or hate it, Mario Kart Wii has sold gang buster and has a decent online experience. Excitebots is wacky and loads of fun. I guess you could say Excitebots has thus far been F-Zero's replacement. If Trackmania gets some tender lovin care, I could see it being an awesome game. Nintendo lately hasn't cared about flooding a certain genre on the wii(2D, Party) but perhaps that could be a reason to hold off.

Iwata says 2011 is potentially worrisome for Wii. Perhaps. However, by all accounts 3DS will be huge, Zelda is always huge, Trackmania will hopefully come out some time next year, Pikmin 3 might show up, and The Grinder will finally come halloween 2011. To me that is a good lineup. Plus Star Fox could make an appearance.

And one less quality Nintendo game for third parties to whine about.

I would make the next F-zero a launch title for Wii HD.

Do you think Nintendo should hold off with an F-zero till next gen?

No idea, but I bet rol has something to say. Honestly I can't see why you can't have both a wii and a next generation one.

Take my word: there will be an F-Zero on 3DS, sooner rather than later.

I had a love/hate/love deal with GX and the one time I saw the arcade version was in arizona. I think they should do a NPC for GX and put in the arcade part in it so you can use the car you build. If the sales are strong enough then they should go all out and hire sega again and put it out asap. Seems logical imo.

F-Zero... in 3D

Awesome

F-Zero GX was a hardcore game, too hardcore for most and its sales suffered because of it.

But if they do make a new console version I think they should stick with SEGA (Amusement Vision) and make a good tutorial mode this time so people won't get put off by the difficulty as much and can learn some advanced techniques.

Right now the best way to learn advanced techniques and course/mission tips is this site here. - http://www.mrfixitonline.com/viewtopic.php?t=855

I disagree Nintendo has at least one more winter to pull the Wii through and Pikmin3 won't be enough to do so. I would like to see F-Zero or StarFox get in their. Both titles have always launched with some stunning visuals during their generations. But both franchises are big enough to sustain Wii sales one last winter (2011). I think its in Nintendo's best interest to release both or at least one of those franchises on Wii!

Stop this nonsense!

F-Zero has already been dormant. The last game was Climax and it was Japan-only. DS completely missed the train after GBA got 3 F-Zero games and it looks like Wii is next. I don't think I want to wait anotehr 2-3 years to get my fix.
