Should EA have chickened out and removed Taliban from multiplayer?

Its very contriversial for us living in NATO countries where our troops are fighting the Taliban. But should EAGames have given in to pressure and remove Taliban as playable characters? I remember saying in a prior thread that all this contriversy could actually have helped MedalOfHonour, but now that its gone I doubt sales will be helped by the contriversy.

Now origionally EAGames made several statements that the Taliban would be played like the robbers in a game of cops and robbers. They said they stuck by their decision to include Taliban. It sure added realism to the game realism that COD:MW doesn't have. A real world conflict that you can take on the mission our troops are fighting.

So was it smart for EAGames to appease a few angry individuals at the cost of their game's legitamacy? Or should EA have stuck to their guns and kept the Taliban playable?

Was it smart to remove the Taliban?

Considering pre-orders are over 700K, its pretty obvious gamers were okay with playing as the Taliban.

The only people who are complaining could give two shits about the game. EA should have did it and just let the complaining blow over. Giving in just gives them power. Now they'll bitch about other games as well.

As long as the gameplay is solid, i don't think it really matters too who the protagonists are.

Most will be playing multiplayer (non-story related) long after the campaign missions are through imo

or replace Taliban with Balitan, and Middle East for Piddle Yeast = job done lol

No. Honestly, it's just silly. What's the worst that could happen?

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

they are still calling for a ban, so the name change did nothing really.

No, I really kinda pissed that they bowed down to these fuckwits

They shouldn't have removed it from Multiplayer. I'm so tired of people censoring themselves becuase they don't wanna offend others. This is America, we're supposed to have freedom of speech. If somebody gets offended by something I or any of us says, oh fucking well.

No. But it's not like I would've bought it either way.
