Well, a big launch for Kinect, no surprise, considering the big M and their mass-marketing supremacy. Even though a lot of us haven't seen it work properly (or at least how it's supposed to work), the fact that it doesn't require a controller is quite appealing to many casual gamers. If it turns out to be like Eye Toy, I am sure it is not going to sell in the long run. Other than Dance Central, I don't see any AAA software available at launch for the Kinect.

Human contact, the final frontier.

So I doubt they would have started manufacturing till right about now if not in a week. They have probubly promised a certain amount of units to retailers and are rushing to meet demand. Also I do think Kinect is very popular as well meaning their is going to be way more demand then units.

all the bugs and issues were on the software side of things. The hardware specs have been finalized since they unveiled kinect. I'm sure they have been manufacturing them for a few months now.

I'm not jumping on this bandwagon. Anecdotal stuff, even from the people in retail here can be really misleading. One store might take more than their allotment in POs while others do almost nothing. Certain countries, regions and even parts of cities behave very differently. I'm not really concerned about Kinect myself but we've seen some similar threads (Reach bundle etc.) give inaccurate indictors. Good news but I'll take it with a grain of salt.
