Well its official, even Sega has realized they have produced a lot of crappy Sonic games. Infact Sega thinks all these crappy Sonic games are hurting the little HedgeHog's image. So guess what, Sega is pulling many Sonic games from shelves or and/or stopping manufacturing many games to make them unavailible.
This is what Sega’s SVP of EMEA Jurgen Post had to say “Any Sonic game with an average Metacritic has been de-listed,” infact many Sonic games released in the last few years are being pulled. TItles said to be on the chopping block include everything from Sonic Unleashed , Sonic Riders and even the Wii's Sonic and the Black Knight.
Even some more successful Sonic games are being pulled to help polish Sonic's image. Jurgen Post had this to say about the more successful games being delisted. "We could make a lot of money on back-catalog Sonic titles," Post says, "but let's keep the number of Sonic games available under control. Otherwise you can have cannibalisation. If there are ten Sonic games on the shelves, with people seeing Sonic Rush DS or Sonic Rush Adventure, this may not help our overall strategy."
So there you have it Sega has realized its mistakes and is trying to clean up Sonic's image. Will this be enough to help replenish the greatness of Sonic in the 90's? What do you think of Sega's plan to pull all of the average and below average games from market?
