There have been enough leaks of the specs and videos of games and whatever enough for a developer (a very high quality one with Mark Rein and Epic) to know whether or not a system is right for them spec-wise.

Add in the fact they are in the industry, and have contact with multiple other dev teams. Especially in EA... They do hear about stuff and see what's currently available.

They don't need a 3DS to know these things. Just like you don't need a 360 to know it's more powerful than the Wii...

While what he said could sound dumb... He's in the industry. He works with the big dogs in the industry. He runs a videogame company that busts out games that sell 5 Million units. He's working in the handheld market as we speak. He knows what he's talking about. And he has a lot more credibility in his words than probably anyone on these forums.

Mark Rein sells middlware...that's become his life now.  If a target platform doesn't have software partners wanting his wares for it, he doesn't give a shit about said platform.  He's also anti-fixed function pipeline and the 3DS has a fixed function pixel pipe (despite the fact the pipe has practically all the same shaders as Direct 3D 10 and a fully programmable vertex shader).

Do I need to remind anyone of his recent PS3 backpeddling?   Rein lost credibility when he moved his job title from developer to salesman.

I have no argument, I'm just crying because some guy doesn't want to make a game for a system I don't own.

Looks like I fixed that one up for you.

As I said before, you don't need to have a system on hand to know if it's below what you are aiming to do.
