If ps3 slim didnt had happened Ps3 was not with us anymore... Xbox didnt need the slim to save it Xbox was doing fine... Ps3 needed the slim to didnt die.

Dont you think the surge in sales has more to do with a price cut from 399$ to 299$ and marketing. The revision, beside consuming less electricity, actually remove features.

360 is dead in Japan.

PS3 has been dead forever in the US.

In the "Others" region it's where the fun is at.

Sony can try all it wants in the US, but it will never overtake 360 sales there, which in turn will never take over the Wii's.

It's just that simple.

ps3 isnt dead its doin fine in us

PS3 might have had the most exclusives but unlike 2009 360 actually has better games this year, so that plus the slim effect is what makes the 360 outsell the PS3. Wii has always outsold the PS3 everywhere so don't act suprised about that.

whaaaat forgive me while i laugh a couple of times....

As I said in my opening post I don't wish for the PS3 to die at all. I want it to be Wii>PS3>360...I just said that as of now it looks like PS3 will be #3 almost every week in America for the rest of this Gen. Worldwide it is doing great though.

PS2 support dropped.  Linux support dropped.  It's dropping more features than it's adding.  All that's left is blu ray.  There are some exclusives I am interested, but I don't really have time for all the good Wii games not to mention 360 games.

When the PS3 came out I was interested in it and planned to get it eventually, but I have lost interest and so I'm less likely to buy it now even if the price drops than I was several years ago.

Dead, no...  However it's not likely to go beyond third place...

PS3 has been having its best year ever in 2010 with Japan and Others...but what about America?

I have been thinking and the PS3 has had the most 1st Party games released this year so far and has still been outsold in America all year long by the Wii and 360. The Wii hasn't had many major exclusives this year and S.M.G.2 was its biggest game so far in 2010 and that was back in May. The 360 some will argue that its because of the Slim effect and now Halo Reach which is untrue. The 360 was outselling the PS3 in America before the Slim 360 even was announced. PS3 just released Move last charting week and the Wii still outsold it and this past charting week the PS3 won by only about 6K.

In the final 3 months of the year the PS3 only has Move and G.T.5 to count on as big exclusive games. Move isn't doing much in America(Though in Others its having some effect) and I don't expect it to pick up much throughout this year. This leaves G.T.5 which won't be as big as Kinect, Wii Party, or Donkey Kong Country Returns in America. Overall PS3 is doing very well in Japan and Others but I.M.O it has lost America and won't be able to get it back until a Price Cut happens.

What do you think? (I am stating my concern over the PS3 in America and had no intention of offending people or the PS3 while making this thread.)

Despite the increase in sales in the 360 since the slims release...it has not hurt the sales of the PS3. The PS3 is dead last, but it is doing just fine and has plenty of steam as long as its sales remain steady.

-- Nothing is nicer than seeing your PS3 on an HDTV through an HDMI cable for the first time.

So why do you WANT it to be Wii>PS3>360?  I find that so strange, because usually someone is a fan of a console/manufacturer and wants that one to sell better than the others and that's good enough.  But from this I can't tell what system (Wii?) you're a fan of.  Just that you want the 360 in last place . . .

Its doing just fine for being the most expensive console, nobody knows for sure the effect GT5 is going to have and next year is full of exclusives. With no offense to the 360 but it seems their biggest game next year will be Gears of wars 3 but still Kinect is gonna sell truckloads.

Sony fans have a strong argument that the PS3 is a solid product, and it is.. but  from a business perspective, Sony can't take another last place console.  They really are just now barely making money from the PS3 which hardly offsets whats been lost the since launch 4 years ago.

If you want to compare Apples to Apples we neeed to stop comparing the sales of the PS3 to the Wii or Xbox 360.. This Gen probably has about 3 more yrs till you start seeing Next Gen consoles ( which gives you nearly a ten year cycle ) ..

If you want to compare Apples to Apples stop comparing the sales of the PS3 to the Wii or Xbox 360..

Xbox 1 sold  24.6 million lifetime - Xbox 360 has sold 45.3 million so far ( an INCREASE of 98% more owners then the previous console userbase )   ---->  PS2 sold 137.1 million Lifetime - PS3 has sold 37.8 Million so far ( A DECREASE of 73% less owners then the previous console userbase ) --- >  GameCube sold 21.7 Million Lifetime - Wii has sold 74.2 Million so far ( an INCREASE of NEARLY 300% more owners ! ) .. Software wise you'll see the same trend, everyone has increased software sales over thieir previous gen console, except the PS3..

So it's because the ps3 is not a quality product and all that quality talk is just Sony fanboy crap, that's the reason the ps3 is in last place and has sold so much less than the ps2 in terms of hardware and software right, it's has nothing to do with the FACT that the ps3 launched at 600 dollars and for the entire gen has been 100-200 dollars more than it's competition....

funny to because in 09 the "peak year (LMFAO)" it destroyed the 360 with the launch of the ps3 slim and the 100 price cut............... STILL being the most expensive console on the market.

OT, no OP the ps3 is not dead in America, it's just more expensive.
