| thx1139 said: So looks like EMEAA boost for PS3 this week was mostly F1 with a little Move thrown in. EMEAA boost this week about 9.7K |
I'd say = Move and F1 effect. In EMEAA Sports Champs sales increased, whereas in America's it decreased. This implies that SC/Move had a bigger HW influence in EMEAA than it did in Americas.
This weeks Americas vs EMEAA really epitomises the differences between these regions. F1 in Americas bombs hard, selling across PS360 less than half what it sold on 360 alone in EMEAA.
Really6 happy with Demon's Souls boost in Americas (another indicator of the significant difference in the markets). Must be a price drop? Should make it to 500K easily now. A pity the servers won't be supported after March.
Large drop for Eyepet too. This might not have the legs it did in EMEAA. It is a Christmas present type game for the kiddies though, so it might see sustained numbers through Nov and Dec.

Kinect will be the new cool, and Wiimote/Move will be soooo last decade. HD-ness has nothing to do with coolness or nerdyness.
TBH I think once the casual market gets a good look at HD-goodness WITH motion control gaming a significant number of that market will want in on that visual action. People who've only seen Wii visuals are always wowed when they see what the HD twins can do (actually people who've only seen 360 visuals are always wowed when they see Uncharted 2 and God of War III in action
). So there's definitely interest, there just needs to be the games to turn that interest into a desire to purchase.

Just out of curiosity do you know what it sold last year? Did it sell out at your store last year? Like I said before, next week's numbers are going to be very interesting.

No sorry, I don't know what it sold last year. The only other figure I have is the Halo Reach launch and it sold 92 in the same timeframe, and F1 2010 selling 52 on 360 and 48 on PS3 in the same timeframe!!
i think people still underestimates what the holydays boost can do for nintendo's consoles. there is also a very strong line up, starting this october with wii party and just dance 2, which should start with mid-low numbers and progressively get bigger untill huge december sales (they are both titles people play with friends so a lot of word of mouh is garanteed. also, jd2 is doing quite good an the american pre-orders chart, and wii party is a "wii" title, with a controller bundle. they'll be huge), and culminating with Donkey Kong Country Returns which could be a NSMBW in a smaller scale. after all there is a co-op mode, and the nostalgia factor is quite big. i remember when i was a kid that the 3 DKCs were all the rage at that time. i bet there is still a lot of people who remembers them like me. the same could be said for the Goldeneye remake. surely goldeneye wasn't as big as DKC but a lot of people played it to death with friends and if this turns out to be a decent remake it could be enough to move some hardware on the nostalgia (and the multyplayer splitscreen). and then there's epic mickey, i'm not too sure on this but it's already showing on the pre-order chart and it seems to be getting some word of mouth even between people who are not into gaming... oh... and it's MICKEY... if it gets good reviews and a nice marketing push it could also help the wii sales.
sure this holydays won't be as strong as 2009's holydays for wii, but i think a lot of people will be surprised at the end.
