Forums - Sales - Nintendo Revises Wii and DS Sales Forecast

Oh Carl.

Ok if we're going to play silly beggars, MW2 has had close to a year on PS3 and a similar amount of time on 360 to sell ::). Lets see where NSMB Wii is after 2 years compared with MW2.

As for what Nintendo has delivered in the last 10 months, they beat the highest rated metawotsit with it's own sequel. I'm talking about Legend of Mario: Starlight Princess 2 (aka Galaxy). So even by metadarling standards they delivered, no? Is it still selling more a week than Red Dead Redemption?

Onto Donkey Kong... you kids today really need to learn some respect, hehe. You've seen what good old fashioned arcade gaming has done to the Playstory generation games. The Kart destroyed the GTAs, even the arcade multiplayer on MW2 combined with a total userbase of around 2 billion? (including PC) is already faltering to little old new super Mario.

Are you seriously suggesting that the Great Gorilla himself won't pound that pathetic racing sim (not really a game) into the ground? If so, then that's betting talk. First 10 weeks? Gotta give Wii games a chance for legs, they don't sell on hype and screenshots alone.

Why should we? You specifically said this - "NSMB Wii creamed MW2". You are (and were) wrong. Just take it like a man, stop trying to squirm your way out of it

I never said otherwise... You did. You were the one playing the usual emo " ZOMG! everybody hates Wii and Nintendo D: Nintendo is teh lazy!" crap.

"The Kart" is coming from a series that has sold 7 Million on GC, 8.75 Million on SNES, 9.9 Million on the 64... And had a base of over 18 Million on DS to dip into with the similar Wii market.

As for the "Great Gorilla Himself"... Well, let's look at the sales of the DKC series, and then we can look at the DK games on Wii/GC/64 after for you. DKC sold 9.3 Million on the SNES. DKC2 sold 5.15 Million on the SNES. DKC3 sold 3.5 Million on the same SNES. If we look at the handheld games they're even lower than DKC3 but... I suppose we can leave them out.

Now lets look at his games since them, shall we? DK64 sold 5.27 Million. Then what did he have on the Gamecube. Let's take a look! Donkey Konga sold 1.07 Million, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat sold 0.8 Million. Now for the Wii... Donkey Kong Barrel Blast sold 0.59 Million, and a New Play Control Jungle Beat sold 0.54 Million.

After that, nice trolling of GT5 you did there. Should I really do bets with a troll? Can I trust a troll to stand by the bet? :/

My favourite parts were when Mario Kart outsold the GTAs and then NSMB Wii creamed MW2, now Pokemon crushes Halo and we get to see Donkey Kong smash Gran Whatsitsname to pieces and Nintendo didn't even have to use Miis.

It's a good job Nintendo is being so lazy.

Just so you know. Modern Warfare 2 sold over 20 Million units in June.

And Donkey Kong. lol. I really can't wait to see the sales of that

As for Nintendo being lazy. Not true. Look at the support the Wii has had for the past 10 Months from them.

Oh Pyro As Bill.....do you really read what your posting lawlawl!

1. Yes they did, but apart from that whats been there? Even Nintendo fans keep saying the Wii's "low" sales are expected because of no good software release......go see in every "SALES UP" thread....you will see that statement being said

2. Right gramps.....DKC is in my top 10 games of all time and I DO want it to do well.....but it is no NSMB Wii.....the DK series hasn't ever sold like Mario did in its hey day. And DK is no Mario Kart type game that can become caught in the mass market revolution. Donkey Kong COuntry is unlikely too outsell GT5

3. Yes I am suggesting that. The Great Gorilla will founder against the GREAT GRAN TURISMO! See GT franchise sales.....now THERE'S a proven massive seller of a franchise. And GT5 isn't gonna sell on hype and screenshots.....the amount of content in the game is staggering.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Multiplatform alert.

So? Who cares? He shouldn't have mentioned a multiplat game... Activision chose to put it on Multiple platforms (HD platforms) and it sold over 20 Million units in under a year. I don't see a problem other than him being wrong, for now.

Just the type of excuse I was expecting from you though

It's means everything. Multiplatform games just do better than then ones on a single system.

Someone's is as smart as me. I'm glad, I'm glad x)

*kudos*

Well thank you my good sir.

Exactly, some people can't understand the fact that a multiplatform game sales can't be combined against other single platforms, for the obvious reasons that you got vary systems boosting sales of the same game.

Some people live out of touch with common sense.

then why can you compare a Wii game to a 360 game, or PS3 game to 360 since the user bases differ for each one?  Why is it more fair to compare a Wii exclusive to a PS3 exclusive than to compare a Wii exclusive to a multiplat game which has a much closer user base to the Wii?

Because they are not compairable. You're still comparing the one system to two. It's not an even comparison.

Also, I've found outr that usuerbase doesn't matter much. Games tend to sell independent of the user base. It's just a cap.
