considering the fact that the DS had over 3 million pre-orders at its launches in EU and the US I can see the 3DS selling that 4 million in a split second

HOW CAN YOU they will pump 5-6m |
I know your English isn't very good, but usually you can say that when a company makes a statement like this it's actually at least ... will be shipped. It's not like they're going to ship 4 million units precisely. It's totally possible that they will ship a million more in reality. Plus were talking about Nintendo here, they are known for being conservative.

well, I was going off the Wiki page for the DS launch; within a month of the system's launch it sold over 2 million units. By March of the following year it ballooned to over 5 million. Those numbers also came from a Wiki page, but they were linked to Nintendo official financial reports. The 3DS' initial sales will probably the DS with any luck. It'll most likely be the hot holiday item next year

THERE MUST BE A REFRENCE LINK
anyways i wouldn't doubt what you are saying
3DS will get a huge start but pre-orders depend even if it is popular, some systems sell well during large period of time and some just during holiday and launch periods

my english??????????????
and they can also be optimistic
i am not doubting 3DS sales in anyway just saying if they target to sell 4m then they will do that much only and also na/eu luanch is in march so it 4m seems enough, hell even this is more but totally understand it as DS is selling so well
i believe it will happen :)

Nintendo should manage to ship 4 million units, but sales will probably be alot lower. At 25,000 yen its almost at expensive at PS3 (29,000 yen RRP) and alot more than the DS was at launch (15,000 yen).
Also don't be surprised to see SONY steal Nintendo's thunder by announcing PSP2 for late 2011 -- with a 16,800 yen price point if SONY is smart.
Nintendo is probably planning to ship 4 million to not have demand overshadow supply. Plus at this point I can't think of a SINGLE thing that the PSP2 could do that the 3DS couldn't.
If they plan on selling 4 million, then they're going to ship more than that. Companies don't like it when the demand is higher than the supply, so I think they'll at least ship 5-6 million. However I predict that the demand will still be higher than the supply.
