This game is destined to flop. I have all DMC games but I won't be buying this not even when it hits the 19.99$ bargain bin where Enslaved is right now (and that game is good).
Azuras Wrath looks way better.

I'm not quite sure the fans are even aware that DMC2 and DMC4 underwent dramatic changes. in fact Hideki Kamiya who developed DMC1 never worked on any of the other games - which is why those games felt dfferent. DMC2 was a completely different game from DMC1 and featured a change in Dantes characterisation. the game was actully very poorly recieved compared to DMC1. the gameplay felt a lot different and personally i thought it wasnt that good of a game. DMC4 featured another change to Dante - if people look at pg 1 of this thread i've done a comparative analysis of Dante from DMC1 and DMC4. and its as clear as day that Capcom westernised him to the point he was completely different. he dosent even look like Dante. yet fans seem to be ignorant of the fact that its a different character because its still made by Capcom. i didnt play DMC4 past a certain point because for me it wasnt fun. so i cant comment on any gameplay changes that were made, but fans are complaining about the changes made by Ninja Theory, yet are completely ignorant of the changes that were made before. heck Dante wasnt even the main character of DMC4, yet this somehow will end up being Ninja Theory's fault as well. |
Well most fans hate DMC 2 and DMC 3 is really close to the orignal from what I heard.

Asura's Wrath is all I want from my japanese button smasher: over the top completely ridiculous action and history, giant Budas trying to kill you with his finger, robo hinduism art style and a character we don't know nothing about yet he looks so damn cool (and he doesn't have to smoke cigarettes to look cool).
Meanwhile NT DmC has an angsty teen who likes to smoke in rooftops, looks like a drug addict an always seems depresed.

Its interesting you mention that actully. because i thought this game had potential as well... until i saw this:
if we look at this video. and the first one (i didnt watch the others, after having seen enough with this). most of what we've been shown is cutscenes. and we have lines like "your resistance is futile", or "i am the great Wizen", and so little of the gameplay is actully shown. and where it is shown, we see no skill, no strategy in the combat. all we see is the hero get knocked down, attack the enemy with a button press - then we move to the next cutscene. where we have a lot more talk.
and look at the environments - everything is so bland, its like the world ended and the only colour left in the universe is grey. i mean DMC had great gameplay, but it was also filled with this type of thing. just loads and loads of talk. and we have comments for this video saying how this is mesmerising stuff from Capcom once again.
i just cant believe this is what makes a good game.
fair enough i agree Ninja Theory had some serious problems with Enslaved's gameplay. but the story, the dialogue between characters was meaningful, the environments were stunning, there was a good balance of cutscene to gameplay allocation. DmCs trailer was brillant compared to this. i mean just from the begginning, we can see some type of psycological depth to the story. the character's body language says more in 2 seconds rather than having 30 secs of talk. the trailer was mostly gameplay rather than cutscene. yet everyone is saying that this Asura's Wraith is brillaint and DmC is awful.
so my point is, while i can see why fans are upset with Dante's new look, i really wouldnt want another DMC like Asura's Wraith. i was done with the series after DMC4, which i didnt have fun with. but i can see myself becoming seriously engrossed in DmC, and really enjoying it, not as a mindless Japanese button basher. but like a fine gaming experience.

Oh my God! That trailer for Asuras Wrath was awesome I didn't saw it before, now I'm 100% sold on that game. You know I never talked about gameplay for NT DmC because I can't judge it until I play it but the whole Dante thing looking like a depresed drug addict just turns me off, I'm not liking the whole artistic look of the game and I can't connect with the character.

If I get to punch out a boss the size of a planet then I'm already sold. Screw NT and their godawful aesthetic, CC2 even with just their first stylish game GETS the genre way more than NT does.
I am seriously concerned about the use of Unreal Engine 3. can anyone comment on whether this game can reach 60 FPS. because i'm under the impression that the UE3 can only do about 30FPS.
anyone have comments on this....

UE3 is more than capable of running at 60FPS. Developers opt for 30fps to allow for more detail. Let's face it, the 360/PS3 platforms are old.

Ue3 can only hit 60fps with several modifications or by being on pc.
Mortal combat and mk vs dc are only unreal games that run at 60fps on console and they had to sacrifice artwise to do so. Even still, mk X-ray moves cause the framerate to drop to about 40
The trailer we saw was not even a locked 30.
