I dont think xbox 360 will have a lead of 6 million by the end of this year. GT5 will sell consoles im sure. And sony has to be dumb not to bundle it with consoles. I think 360 will end up having a lead of maybe 4.5-5.5 million by the end of this year. And 5 million difference is not much anyways. Lets face it 360 came out a year earlier so it is natural for it to be ahead throughout this gen. The wii is a special case because well it was cheaper and was the "cool" thing to buy.

oh wait im going off topic. Anyways it might be possible. Blu ray sales are increasing every year. The ps3 price is decreasing every 1-2 years. Ps3 so far has the best line up for 2011. I dont think the 360 will even come close to the number of quality games ps3 will have next year. All those games might actually sell a bunch of consoles. Imagine the PS3 going $200-$250 next year too! Either way people who don't own a ps3 will be missing out. Luckily i own both 360/ps3 :)

"Ps3 so far has the best line up for 2011" deja vu for almost every year since the ps3 came out http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=5338

off topic, where have all these vgchartz .. well haters come from recently? did we piss of GAF or something? (ive never understood that squabble)... or is this a reaction to the 360 taking over weekly sales again? i reserve my hate for the NPD ...

For the recorded I don't hate it but it is pretty inaccurate and I'm not going to pretend it is accurate, (I mean adding 1 mil because of a mistake they made four years ago with it .3 mil from shipped numbers, I mean thats just stupid)

so it would be better for them to ignore a cumulative error? also the shipped numbers are released generally a month after they hit that number, so are you comparing to the numbers form the week shipments info came out or real end of quarter numbers.  and as for the 360 being .3 (was the 360 right? or did i missread your post) the last quarter before cycling to a new model your going to be cycling down shipments cutting it close while trying to avoid shortages. though i will say i did not hear or see any 360 console shortages this year, (headset shortages though... for about 3 months hard as hell to find... it would happen when i break mine)

edited for clarity ... still needs work

That's it really. The xbox360 has been destroying the ps3 ever since the S launched , even without a permanent price drop, when you combine the official numbers that we are getting (NPD monthly, MC weekly) so the sony fans will do anything to make themselves sleep better at nights. The holiday months will be a riot since some people believe that....GT5 will revive the ps3 and when reality sets in and the first official holiday numbers come there will be...chaos.

The combined efford to insanely troll every kinect thread on every gaming forum from the most hardcore of the hardcore sony fans is another sign that deep down they know what's to come. I can't wait for November/December numbers.

As far as 2011, i am sure that ....huge "hits" like the last guardian, killzone 3, LBP2 and Infamous 2 will make the ps3 the winner in sales (after Gears3 outsells them all combined that is...)

No you don't understand, VG had sales 300,000 behind the 360s shipped numbers when they were released at the fiscal report, VG then added 1,000,000 sales because they didn't count for something that happened four years ago (ie before the fiscal report), that means that they thought the 360 had more sold then shipped which is impossible, if you are arguing that the shipped numbers might have been a bit less then everything that was shipped at that point (things that fell into the fiscal report didn't account for everything up to the date of the release) I might almost buy that if there were shortages and it wasn't by so much and if they weren't behind 2 million on the ps3s and 1 million on the wiis but there were no shortages, ps3 was the one with shortages, theres no denying their numbers are millions off

Another topic of whining :How VGchartz tracks move sale. The fact that move launched almost 2 weeks ago and we still don't have a PR announcement by sony about how well it sold and how it boosted ps3 numbers should give some people a clue...

this topic has nothing to do with move, besides most people still don't know its out they aren't spending hundreds of millions on advertising like MS is with kinect

The topic has to do (based on 90% of the posts in it)  with sony fans whining about VGchartz so everything related to that is relevant.Oh and  there's more than enough advertising for move. The rest is just excuses (oh and i love how when sony spends hundreds of millions of $$ for marketing like last fall=good, when MS does it=evil)

I think all mass marketing is bad, it makes people less likely to buy on quality and more likely to buy because they saw it on tv, and I haven't seen a move commercial yet or it in stores ( I was at superstore today in the ps3 section), if I wasn't on the forum I wouldn't know it was released, and VG chartz is inaccurate, a few posts above I give very specific reasons but thats just with the console hardware no idea how it's numbers for move are, probably fairly accurate though I don't think they shipped many to start with, the sales so far are meaningless with the lack of advertisement and visibility in stores it's not really surprising

Of course GT5 is going to push the PS3's sales over the 360's in the UK.  It does have the Top Gear test track, after all.

But seriously, who knows.  We still have at least 2-3 years to go this gen.  A lot can happen in that amount of time.  And a ~ 2 mill gap isn't that much when all is said and done.  Still, I don't think it's extremely likely, but I wouldn't rule anything out at this point.

@ johnglen

There is no way that Gears 3 will ever outsell KZ3, TLG, LBP2, and Infamous 2 combined.  It would probably have to go on to sell over 9-10 mil to achieve that feat.  It will most likely sell just like the previous 2 games, ~ 6 mil.

ba...wahahahahahahahahahahahahahah thanks for the lolz there is a better chance of snow in the desert on a 95 degree day, also the ps3 will never ever pass the 360 in america, we love the 360 here...except a few people that wont even give the system a chnce do to there blind devotion to sony, ugh

what are u gonna do if it does snow? Oh I'll now just presume Japanese blind devotees were born like that out of the blue..how would u account that?...its just the 360 slim wave that the console is benifiting  from both EMAA and Americas ...which will be momentary. Japanese numbers are hilarious. Look at both Wii and PS3, atleast the consistency is kept across all the places equally enough. Americas is poised to sustain marginally higher sales thru out the holiday season. Still PS3 is destined to cross it in World wide same period. Meanwhile keep lovin ur console and inspire others to Jump In!!

Worldwide yes, but in the UK I it's very unlikely.

USA and UK are the two countries where the 360 is really dominant.
