Mass Effect 2 looks like it will pass Mass Effect 1 saleswise. ME1 was released in mid-November, ME2 was released in late January.

God of War 3, and MGS4 also sold substantially well compared to their PS2 counterparts, and so did Grand Theift Auto 4. If anything, Gears may sell better since it's being released aganst almost no compeditors.

I don't think Gears 3 will even sell as well as the first 2 games. Gears 2 left a VERY NASTY taste in most people's mouths. Many of those hardcore Gears 1 fans that hyped the 2nd game up because they loved the first game are not really there anymore.

Gears 1 MP was very flawed, but also very fun and intense. Gears 2 MP at launch was a disgrace. Terrible MatchMaking times, random host selection that lead to some of the worst lag EVER, and it was very glitchy. This game had so many bugs, they had to call an Exterminator.

It took these assholes 6 Title Updates and over a year and a half (yeah that's right) to get it running somewhat decently. I'm not going through that shit again, and I don't know many people that are.

Even if Gears 3 is awesome, Gears 2 was so bad that it might have ruined any chance of growth for the franchise.

Um... after the first update Gears 2 Matchmaking was fine. Epic just never made a matchmaking system to accomidate soo many people at once, it was bound to have issues at the start.

Also what ground do you base this insult on Gears 2? I'm a big Gears of War fan, and I loved Gears of War 2. It left my mouth with a very minty taste, Matchmaking and Horde mode were phenominal, and now soo many games incorporate wave based survival modes.

I think your just looking for reasons to Hate Gears, you judging all this from your own opinion, and not from ratings (which were generally higher), sales, or anything substantial.

I agree with this post above. I was one of those people who loved gears of war 1. I was very excited with gears of war 2 and everything went downhill when it released. The cover system became worse the lag was terrible, and more. Gears 2 left a very bad taste in my mouth that im not even very excited for gears 3. I will not even preorder the game until the reviews com in and people had a 1st hand experience of how smooth the game runs. Anyways im gonna say it will sell 4 million in 2011 but thats only if the game has the same problems. If it turns out getting a 9.5 and above from every reviewer ill say 6 million.

I'm the same way with Gears. Loved the first one but the second was a lag-fest online with another crappy plot. We already know Gears 3 won't have a good storyline but for Gears it's all about the gameplay and online but I might wait to buy the game until I hear from the Gears community how good it is online.

Yes, but you can't generalize the market because of your own opinion. Almost everyone I know who likes Gears of War 1, liked Gears of War 2 better. I thought the cover system was improved, and multiplayer was enourmously better. I also don't get much lag, maybe thats just your connection.

Anyway, your estimates are reasonable, especially considering your feelings towards Gears 2. I'm just saying people can't generalize their opinions. Gears 2 got better ratings, and is looking to outsell Gears 1 soon, so that alone tells us it's a good game.

Pokemon BW - 10mln. (without Japan)

CODMW3 will overshadow it easily not to mention its not comming out on holidays like gears 2 did it could damage the sales a bit.
