How many has the series sold in total?

I don't see any game next year outselling it. Mabye Pokemon Black/White will beat it. But those games are combined...You'd have to split the sales for that.

With smooth online, better graphics, beast mode, horde 2.0, and being the ending game of the series, I belive Gears 3 can sell 7 million by the end of 2011.

Let's think about other games that could outsell it:

killzone 3- no

little big planet 2- no

modern warfare 3- mabye but idt it will sell nearly as good as mw2

wii sports resort- maye but i wont count it as it comes free with the controller

Both of them are right around 6 million each.

Possible games that could outsell Gears of War 3, including unannounced games:

1) Grand Theft Auto 5 - The last one was 2008, we have to be due for one in 2011

2) Modern Warfare 3 - It won't even be close to MW2 sales but could still be enough to outsell GeoW3

3) Halo spinoff game - I'm not expecting a full Halo game but something along the lines of Halo Reach ODST

4) LittleBigPlanet 2 - Slim chance, but the first one is getting close to 4 million and was very well reviewed, so with enough hype and advertising the sequel could do even better

5) Uncharted 3 - We're due for an Uncharted 3 in 2011, and while its unlikely it would outsell Gears 3, it could improve upon Uncharted 2's already very impressive sales.

6) Zelda Wii - Has a fair chance

7) Wii Sports 3 or Wii Fit 3 - I don't think we're due for either of these yet but you never know. And either of them could outsell Gears 3

Gran Turismo 5 is coming out with the best Online Features and Best Graphics in the series, Great Damage, Massive List of extra features, NASCAR, Kart Raing, etc and does that automatically make people think that it'll outsell Gran Turismo 3 or 4 in a year?

You're telling me that I'll sell 7 Mil in under a year and outsell both previous Gears games?

You realise that in 2008 Gears 2 released and right now it's yet to have outsold Gears 1. And the Userbase difference from 2006 and 2008 were very big. So please enlighten me how Gears 2 failed to Gears 1 and why Gears 3 will be able to outsell both so quickly.

Gears of War 3 will have no troubles reaching 4 Mil in 2011. But to say 7 Mil is being stupid.

If a new COD Game comes out next year, whether it sells as much as MW2 or not isn't important. It will also outsell Gears on X360 only. Combining X360 and PS3 will definitely outsell Gears.

And stop making expections. Lol split Pokemon Games and Zelda doesn't count because you think it was coming out near the end of the year... Pointless
