Is anyone of you familiar with the Gothic Franchise? (The one, were Part 3 sucked like hell?)

i downloaded the G4 demo yesterday, and i think this Game will be great! even if i still dont know which System i should take to play it.. >.<

I'm thinking of picking up Gothic 1/2 from GOG. Still have a wayyyy to go before I can endulge in the fourth one XD

Gothic 3 didn't suck like hell. WIth the community patch it was quite enjoyable.

Arcania does look superieur to it, though.

nah, Gothic 3 was playable and all, but compared to G1 and 2 - it sucked like hell. ;D (imo)

the 'superior' .. the Demo was Bugfree, and it was running smoother on Ultra Quality as G3 was. (Arcania did run very fluid, i was suprised too) the only annoying thing is the sometimes pretty bad made Questmarking on the Minimap. In the Demo, i had to stay close to a Quests destination Point, to see it on the map. :< (so for example: 'Haha! if youre more than half a mile away, you have to seek me, or get into the halfmile Range before i show up on the map!)

Gothic 1 and 2 are pretty worth the money  (i loved them)  IF you can live with the aged graphics.

I only played a few minutes yet, but what is wrong with the graphics? It's so dam grainy!

I haven't heard of Gothic. :S I'm living in the past when it comes to PC though. I'm still playing Red Alert.

I'm not afraid of old games so I might try out the first game because I'm bored atm. Is it anything like Baldur's Gate or the earlier Fallout games?

The first Gothic IMO is the best RPG ever created This one will be a PC buy for me

G2 was amazing to, 3 was buggy as hell when released, but it was still one of the better RPGs of that time IMO. TES is overrated Gothic is underrated

I played this thing for 20 minutes and there wasn't anything remotly close to fun to be found...

you could compare it to a mixture of The Elder Scrolls and Dragon Age.

If you get the first one Cheap, i'd recommend to try it, because WRPG Fans may miss a very good Series, if the Series hits their taste's.
