| rf40928 said: Halo Reach is an amazing game and I respect that you told GT fans to stop comparing. I loved the PS2, but most of original PS1 fans are nearing their late 30's and probably not gaming as much as their kids are...and thats why old classics like FF and GT will probably not to as hot as they used to because the YOUNG and Coming crowd don't know the story lines of those games as the parents who discovered them did.. Those 10,12,14 year olds that ask mom and dads to buy games and consoles are more interested in the addiction of FPS's .. The proof is in the stats - BOTH PS3 and Xbox - Best Selling titles FPS ! And since you brought up the topic of GT5 not outselling Reach, I completely agree.. PS3's best selling title COD MW2 sold like 8.4 million ? They have a smaller user base of console owners and if you go by GAME SALES HISTORY ALONE.. it would seem that the xb360 is way more then just 5.6 million consoles ahead of PS3.. why do i say that ? Because 360 has sold 120 Million more game units then PS3, equating to 8-9 BILLION DOLLARS ! Sony needs to see console gaming has shifted to the west ( I.e, Europe and America ) and start making titles catering to them a bit more ... You hear the hype about Sony has choices.. well those choices arent selling.. NHL 2011, NBA 2011 can be played on either console..Fable.. etc.. 360 actually has about 150 more titles then PS3, which destroys the myth Sony creates that XB360 only has shooters.. That myth exist because FPS's are whats hot and in the now.. My recommendation as a gaming fan to Sony: Create more great FPShooters.. they seem to be driving console sales.. Halo Reach double Xbox sales in UK and darn close to that 100% increase in USA for that same week of Halo Launch ! And now Xbox live is getting to role out the new improvements in Nov ! I think we can appreciate ESPN and the improvement to the online chat ( and in game chat ) which they are upgrading to impoved codecs - We'll all have clearer sounded voices, less static, etc.. Good Job Xbox TEAM |
Yeah, except I actually like diversity, and no, Sony doesn't need to become Microsoft.
Also, where do you get that most PS1 fans are now in their late 30's? I was a NES fan, a SNES fan, and a PS1 fan, and I'm not even 30. Also, I like the line about the YOUNG and coming crowd not knowing the storyline for GT. Classic.
On topic. Halo Reach sold excellently. That much is for sure. What I think these numbers say is that the huge increase in hardware base for the 360 didn't lead to a huge increase (at least initially) in software sales for Reach. Honestly, I don't think anyone should really be all that surprised.
