Yeah, this isnt cool. My new PS3 aint leaving 3.41 firmware.

All I'll play online is Halo REach for the next few anyways so I really ain' missing anything

They will force the update on future games just like they did on RDR. The firmware update was actually on the RDR disc.

Wow...how can they do that? They can limit PSN, but actually have games force updates?

Those people that don't want to lose Other OS can't play RDR?

Wii games have forced firmare updates on the discs. There no reason the PS3 can't.

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m

how is microsoft smelling like roses in this situation. They are supposed to be the "evil one"...

All they do if you screw around with your 360 is ban you off xbox live, and you really have to be an idiot to get banned..like play MW2 a month early or Jtag your console.

How far is this USB block thing going?

Is it also affecting USB flash sticks?

Well I believe Novasonic is wrong about the forced firmware I can't remember a single game that has forced me to get the latest firmware, what certain games actually DO is update some of the BIOs to support certain functions but while they do this it also checks for homebrew BIOs and disables and replaces them with the original files.

But as far back as I can remember PSP games have forced firmware cause you could never take your PSP online ever and be just fine, so it seems the only logical way to get that firmware out anyway.

Also Nintendo has never disabled functions on the Wii via firmware nor has Sony on the PSP, mostly because people just out right hacked the battery and how the fuck can you disable a portables battery?  You can't so they're boned on that one.

Forced PS3 updates are a lot more annoying... especially when I've slowly lost a lot of functions, USB hard drive function (used to play my music from my external), other OS (when I was looking into installing Linux), and now I can't buy a cheap controller *sigh* it's hurt those that have been properly using their PS3

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

lol The usb functionality isn't disabled people. You can still use your usb or whatever device you use to transfer files or whatnot on your ps3. They were not referring to the USB in general. LOL

Yeah some discs include the firmware they need to be able to play, it also say so on the PS website on the FW update section, and btw, you can still use a portable HDD, file transferin was NOT disabled
