And before you tell that it is a kiddy game, bear in mind that many of the CoD, CS and Halo players are 12 year old babies that like to scream at the mic.

So, is pokemon one of Nintendo's hardcore franchises?

hell yes. there is so much technique that goes into it. and the amount of types you have is not that simple (which are strong or weak to which, etc) it´s not just pretty animals you know

Kiddy game at first glance, but there's actually so much depth in this game. Enough to warrant dedicated battling communities and world championship events. Some hardcore pokemon game battling sites include Smogon.com for example.

Intel core i7 930 OC @ 4.0 ghz

XFX Double dissipation Radeon HD 7950 356 bit 3gb GDDR5 OC @ 1150 MHz core + 1575 x 4 memory

Triple channel DDR 3 12gb RAM 1600 MHz

I still don't know what "hardcore" (or "casual") for instance really menas, so I don't have idea. Don't respond to this.

Above: still the best game of the year.

well that´s true. but if he means that there is enough depth in the game then I say yes

Pokémon is about as hardcore as it gets.  It's just my definition of hardcore is different from most.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Put a "hardcore" elitist Cod / Halo / PES player against a pro in Pokemon. They won't know what hit them.

Good way to justify this to Nintendo haters.

IMO, it really depends how you play it. Some fansites (Smogon) are set up around the aspect of competitive battling and definitely take the franchise to a hardcore level.

Personally, i stick to the casual approach. I start Pearl with the intention of doing WiFi battling, found building a strong online squad method too time consuming and gave up. Now I just enjoy the game and play how I want.
