Well blu-ray is quite nice, and I do think blu-ray is far more useful than DD. Dodgy internet connections, and excessive internet use issues with ISPs mean that having the physical copy is much better with big things like HD movies

Wifey and I were watching Origins (anime) on Blu-Ray.  In the famous words of Mr. Sulu, "Oh... My..."

I agree, I remember watching Quantum of Solace having not watched a blu-ray for ages, and it is just amazing, especially as most of my HD comes at 720p (most PS3 games and Sky)

Not to go Off topic, but what kind of HDTV do you have?

Sony W4500 or something..... a couple of years old, but still 1080p

Xbox 3 has no other choice than Bluray. No one can be download only and Blu ray is the only media big enuff for next gen.

Yeah it does:

1. HD-DVD

2. CH-DVD (or whatever they call it)

3. Custom Blu Ray.

4. Roll your own.

5. Cartridges/digital download.

To compete against an established format which has Samsung and others behind it? It's not plausible.

While I doubt the 720 will not have BR capabilities, I dont think there is one person can say that BR was necessary to make this gen what it is.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Its just as good as asking who cares about games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2 or GOd of War 3...and even like asking who gives a damn on Avatar's Blue-Ray...

For some reason... I doubt those games absolutely required BluRay.

God of war 3 uses 40 GB of data

Uncharted 2 is 22 GB

MGS4 is about 26 GB

While those games are completely uncompressed, even once compressed they need bluray...

Next gen will be interesting to say the least, but bluray is absolutely not necessary this gen. 5 years in and howmany 360 games need disk swaps? I know 2 (FF13 and Lost Oddisey)...with 2 more to come out (rage and Castlevania lords of shadow).

Forza doesn't count as it needs an install to add cars, and not a swap.

well with ps3 you can have high def bluray and high def movie downloads.

xbox 360 on the other hand has only high def movie downloads.

so ps3 is clearly the better option for movies.

bluray will be here to stay, players are becoming cheaper and cheaper as are movies. i canot see the point in getting hold of a dvd for your collection now, compared to bluray its a joke.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Mass Effect 2 and Star Ocean IV also.

who would buy avatar on DVD, what a waste

I watched it. Didn't make a single difference for me.

Difference to what -blu ray version?  If you only watched it on dvd then yep there is no difference to you coz you cant compare it.

But multiple DVDs is an option. So you can't really say they need BluRay. Also, we don't really know if those games can fit on single DVD compressed.

Other games that use multiple discs are Star Ocean 4, Blue Dragon, and Mass Effect 2. Only a tiny portion of the 360's library uses multiple discs.

Collecting movies in general is a joke. Everyone I know now rents movies from $1 machines, use netflix, downloads, and streams.

I'm a computer technician. I can assure you downloading movies isn't just something computer savvy people do.

It's not option with sandbox games.
